When the palace hosts the newcomers in the grand hall, Penelope sits on the throne with Prince Telemachus at her side.

Telemachus was only half listening.

Most of the suitors blurred together.

Another man trying far too hard to impress his mother.

Telemachus, who is seventeen and already far too confident for his own good, sees Antinous, Eurymachus, and Amphinomus and immediately decides he wants them. Not later. Not maybe. Immediately. He points at them in front of everyone and announces, in the most unhinged way possible.

“Mother,” he said, without breaking eye contact, “I want those three.”
