Experimenting with the lineless style again
You know, Agamennon hate is understandable. He did a lot of shit, he is not a character suitable for everybody, some people don't have the stomach for him.
Odysseus hate? Guy threw a baby off a cliff + several other crimes against women and he is lowkey annoying if you don't like characters that are arrogant liars in general. Understandable hate.
Achilles? Understandable hate.
Jason? Understandable hate.
Theseus? Understandable hate.
But Perseus? Perseus who the worst thing he did was perhaps kill Ariadne but he did it for self-defense? Perseus who saved his mom from a creep and his wife from her groomer? That Perseus?
Perseus hate is forced as fuck
How retellings write Perseus
Every resource I could find with information about Andromeda
Introduction:
Perseus by Daniel Ogden is the perfect introduction of Perseus and his surrounding mythology, which includes Andromeda
Primary sources:
Theoi is generally a great website if you wanna research mythology in general:
In Greek mythology Perseus was one of the most celebrated of the heroes. This second page in the Perseus series begins with the story of his
Topostext is also pretty good, tho it’s super slow for me for some reason:

Fragmentary plays. These sorts of writings are usually behind a subscriptions, these are screenshots I got while subscribed to Loeb Library:
Euripides Andromeda fragments: https://www.tumblr.com/sarafangirlart/778560413612883968/euripides-andromeda-fragments-part-2
💬 3 🔁 5 ❤️ 27 · Euripides Andromeda fragments PART 2
Sophocles Andromeda Fragments:
💬 0 🔁 0 ❤️ 24 · There’s unfortunately very few fragments of Sophocles Andromeda than of Euripides Andromeda, but one thing I’m surprised n
Analysis:
Maritime-Related Cults in the Coastal Cities of Philistia during the Roman Period Legacy and change by Simona Rodan. This book is mainly about ancient Palestine but chapter 2 is about Jaffa, which is actually heavily tied to Andromeda’s myth.
Early Greek Myth: A Guide to Literary and Artistic Sources by Timothy Gantz. Again, Andromeda isn’t the main focus but her chapter along with Perseus is insightful.
Brill’s Companion to Euripides, Chapter 41, Affective Attachments in Some Late Tragedies of Euripides by Francis Dunn. This chapter talks about other plays too but has some pretty insightful analysis. It’s the first time I’ve learned that Euripides Andromeda was one of the first ancient Greek plays *ever* to depict two ppl (Perseus and Andromeda) falling in love on stage.
Euripides' Escape-Tragedies: A Study of Helen, Andromeda, and Iphigenia among the Taurians by Matthew Wright. We don’t know much about Euripides Andromeda but it has some parallels to Euripides other non-lost plays, which this book analyzes.
Untangling Blackness in Greek Antiquity by Sarah F. Derbew. This book doesn’t talk much about Andromeda but it’s great for ppl who want to know more about blackness in antiquity.
Retellings (that are actually good):
Andromeda Unfettered by Muriel Stuart

Digital and sketch of Hermes from epic
I fell in love with the idea of giving him engravings of wings on his helmet instead of literal ones
One day ppl will understand that Greek gods aren’t tyrants with superpowers but rather forces of nature that are capable of both extreme cruelty and kindness and that they were used to explain the harsh and confusing realities that Ancient Greeks had to live through every single day and why they set up certain rules and customs.
One day ppl will understand that Greek heroes weren’t supervillains but complex human beings who are representations of the best and worst of humanity and that they aren’t remembered bc they were ‘heroic’ in a modern sense and that the Ancient Greeks rarely actually whitewashed their heroes actions but instead used them to tell fables and tragedies.
One day ppl will understand that Greek heroines did have power and agency in spite of the patriarchal society they live in, one day ppl will actually read the source material and properly learn about these women than take what retellings say about them like gospel.
When you start seeing gods as a force of nature, everything becomes divine. A successful birth, a bountiful harvest, a sudden death, an earthquake.
The forces are there no matter what, but the framing of these forces through deities makes the gods ever-present and the resulting consequences intentional.

your coloring and lighting is sooo good! Do you have any tips?
Hi there!! Thank you soso much! That's super sweet of you especially having done little fully coloured pieces this means a lot! I had the intention of answering this question much sooner but I got so busy and I wanted to gather screenshots before I did!
One disclaimer before I start is this is not a MUST DO process. This is just how I do my colouring and it might not suit your taste or the process might not be for you and that's okay! with that all said- I just wanna say before I start that I use Clip Studio Paint so the terms I'm using might not be the same as the Digital Software you use and the names and list of the blending modes might not be the same. But most art programs including free ones, (Firealpaca, Medibang, Krita, Ibis Paint, etc) have them! I rely heavily on Blending layer tools on digital art softwares for help! Usually ontop of your layer window!
I use a mix of different blend modes TOGETHER in different opacities to get the results I desire. I use lighter colours for my lighting blend layer mode, In the case above, it'd be Glow Dodge and Colour Dodge. While for shading, I only use darker tones and colours for my Multiply blend layer mode. Comparisons of With and Without
Also A LOT of my colour process is just a lot of experimenting with different colours and seeing which match best with the scene!
For example,
the one on the left, I used A LOT of cold colours (blues, purples) to have a more 'nightly' ambiences. While the one on right uses a lot more warm colours (Red, Orange) for a more 'dawn/sunset' ambience.
And for my more painted render style, you can see I still do the same thing where I block out the parts I wish to shade and lighten up with the same blend mode tools (multiply (for shading) and glow dodge (for lighting)
(Credit to @aikesan66 & @melmenie-art1 for the sharpwolf design <3)
I hope this gives you some ideas (and I hope this tip? made some sense haha!) Again, these are just how I colour my pieces! The blend modes are my best friend! Genuinely just mess around with colours and see what fits! And also everyone's colour style and process is different from one another so PLEASE do not take my word as "this is what I have to do" or "This is the blending modes I need to use". Not at all! Experiment, mess around and some other blend mode style I didn't mention might suit your colouring taste better!
I hope this helps!! If you do have anymore questions I don't mind answering them!! <3

Messssyyyyy, hehehee! May I HUMBLY request some Antinouscest? Specifically, your Antinous and CallMeSinner's Antinous?
With the prettiest of pleases and the most pathetic of beggings from me?
@callmesinner 's antinous is the hottest of em all btw and i miss him so much
I dont know how to phrase it but i imagine that sinner's antinous would have been so gentle and caring and attentive to his needs that my antinous would have enjoyed it really good despite hating the effeminate feeling of being babied and cared for. Sinner wins again
A fox and a snake 😌.
The full, Uncropped image is in my Twitter and Bluesky 😌
My Eurymachus with @callmesinner's Eurymachus hehe
