As much as I love Beauty and the Beast stories, I'm starting to get really into Persephone stories. The mother isn't dead, the "beast" was never a monster, the girl can come and go from the castle, there are flowers everywhere, and the imagery is extra spicy. There’s also a big dog with three fluffy heads, which is just about everything you could ask for in a story.

If you were to recommend a version of East of the Sun and West of the Moon, which one would you go for? I've never read any versions/retellings of it but it seems like it would be all flavors of my jam, and I'm eager to see if you have any treasured favs.

So the only two versions of East of the Sun and West of the Moon that I’ve come across is I was given the book East by Edith Pattou by my good friend @secretalbatross and I’ve seen the movie The Polar Bear King.

Neither of them are super good, though “East” was at least readable (I finished it, it wasn’t too bad). That’s all I know about adaptations of this fairy tale, sorry!
