so I was playing a casual game and not actually watching an ad to get free lives (as one does), an ad for “Smurfs Bubble Story” or some kind of game like that, and the voiceover lady said “Embrace the Evil Wizard Gargamel to win prizes” and I was like... what? Does @corseque know about this? And then I realized, no, the voiceover actually said “and race the Evil Wizard Gargamel” and it wasn’t that kind of story.

Final Fantasy XIV Endwalker spoilers People kept posting this Emet-Selch tiktok onto twitter but I wanted it up on tumblr too cause it's so good and I'd get so excited every time I stumbled upon it again.

So they just announced that they are putting Shadowbringers on the free trial of FFXIV, which means you can actually play my favorite story in a videogame for free now.

Like it's actually free, I played on the free trial and played almost the entire story when I started.

(do NOT buy anything until you're done, it's the kind of thing where the moment you pay, you have to start paying a subscription monthly forever, so I suggest playing on the Free Trial until you are finished with Shadowbringers. Just make sure you do not open your wallet at all and you can mosey on through on your timeframe without paying anything. It's the exact same game).

anyway it's actually wholly free now. My favorite terrible wizard love is for the people now. Play Shadowbringers so you understand

you can play FF14 without playing any other Final Fantasy game, they are all separate stories in separate worlds. So you don't need to know Final Fantasy or play a dozen games before it, they are all one-shots, if you will take a fanfiction frame of reference

I just really enjoy these kinds of scenes when I get them... when the dark and nefarious wizard is allowed to be like, objectively right about a situation. and their natural dark attitude is actually the correct reaction that lets them see things more clearly. it's sexy

in this scene his holy love interest (Crysania) doesn't want to see that the Kingpriest is a sham. This is funny because no one ever believes Raistlin when he comes to them with genuine wisdom and advice because he's a 'dark wizard,' so his cynicism is exponential. Raistlin is also trying to manipulate Crysania at this point, but like... in an enemies-to-lovers way that involves helping her and making her as strong as possible and getting entangled with her. He's like "don't get caught up with this kind of thing, you're better than that and I need you to keep up with me." Ruslan plays Raistlin so well, it's wild

in this musical they have SO many songs and duets, and I can't even pick my favorite of the many Wizard Romance Flavors it provides
