YER DARLING MIX #5: ‘82/’83
Over the past few years I’ve grown increasingly fond of boogie and Italo disco, due in no small part to mixes by Jiro, Suzanne Kraft and Beat Electric—the master archaeologists of those genres.
At a certain point I realized almost all the songs I obsessively listened to were from one small juncture in time: 1982 and 1983. And thus this mix was born: you’ll find Italo disco, synthpop, electro, boogie, funk and French rap (don't laugh!) all from that two-year span. And yes, I made two exceptions: a jump to 1986 for a standout synthpop track by French group Niagara, and the intro music, from Japanese percussionist Stomo Yamashta.
This mix has been too long in the making--so it’s time to kick this summer jam out the door for y’all to enjoy. Stream above, or DOWNLOAD.
