The Beat Freaks WOD Awards '16 performance-⚡️
Very grateful to have been asked to judge WOD last night, it was very eye-opening to me... I realized I love dance, I love the dance community, I love that people are being courageous enough to literally get judged, BUT there is a PLAGUE affecting us!!! The PLAGUE of CONFORMITY & SAMENESS In the social land of "followers" and "likes", has helped create the widespread consciousness of this disease. Almost every dance team did the same style of movement, same formations, same transitions, same music choices, same black and white "costumes", same "I'm a gangsta" choreography, same "one person in the middle" affecting the others around them moments, same crouching run to transition on or off stage, same "hold 5,6,7,8 then start dancing hard" as an intro, same half the dancers go down and half stay up to give levels, same, same, same!!! All I can say is ATTEMPT to be DIFFERENT, ORIGINAL, CREATIVE, IMAGINATIVE, UNIQUE, LEADERS. See where that road goes... Maybe you won't have as many followers or likes, or win competitions, but at least you can say you have the balls to go against the grain, create a new path, and possibly change the game. There are those few diamonds out there that are doing just that, which is a relief, but this CONFORMITY & SAMENESS is overwhelming.
