Steve keeps a little notebook in his car, it sits hidden in his glovebox along with a blue pen and he only ever pulls it out when he's alone. It's filled with songs and names, all written as neat as possible because Steve's been told his normal handwriting is rubbish. It's his 'just in case' notebook. It's filled with songs that his friends have excitedly turned up while in the car with him and yelled, 'This is my favourite song!' And then when they get out and leave Steve on his own, he hurriedly writes down the song on their dedicated page along with the date so that he can keep track of which songs are their most recent favourites. He hopes he never has to use it.

But all I gotta say is. Dude. Looking at someone's trauma response (forming a system) and going 'hey i think thats pretty spiffy let me just *forms a system and begins using all the terms for it*

And then on top of that recycling terms like 'transmed' and truscum' (sysmed and traumascum) to fling the implication that we're basically evil bastard people around because we're rightfully bothered that you're doing this???

How can I explain it to you, that is disrespectful ok? That's like taking the fucking handicap parking spot because you want the perk of being closer to the store (and no I do NOT mean people who are actually disabled even when it's not visually apparent I just mean literal assholes)

And before you argue that it's not the same because it's not taking physical resources- it kind of is. By using the same terms you're existing in the same spaces and muddying the waters

People who are actually traumagenic and trying to learn more are going to get mixed messages on what they need, what they should do, what's common for the brain and what's not if people who aren't coming from a place of trauma are putting their two cents in, it's that simple! Honestly speaking I wonder how you guys know that some of you AREN'T traumagenic, because part of the purpose of a system is to hide the trauma from yourself! If someone didn't know they had trauma and labeled themselves endogenic, there's a good chance they aren't going to find therapy for themselves and nothing's going to work because they're going to pass off their plurality as just 'something their brain did to amuse itself' or whatever the usual motivation is behind it. That's not healthy for them!

You wanna have multiple people in your head? Fuckin fine I can't stop you! But for the love of god can you please just form your own separate terms and communities please?

Another good example I saw a while back was written by another user here and idr if I reblogged it but it basically summed it up as; you and I could both have a cough, but one of us is coughing due to a minor cold while the other has something more severe like bronchitis.

The human brain naturally predisposes itself to at least minor dissociation. It has to, if you didn't there's a good chance in a time of life-threatening crisis you'd freeze up. So I'm not gonna say it's impossible. But following the cough analogy, you're trying to claim you're like people with asthma just because you have a minor allergic reaction to dust. That's not the same thing at all. Please don't try to act like it is and enter our tags and use our language and get offended when we tell you otherwise. We're literally traumatized people, for fucks sake quit bullying us by trying to equate us to transmed/truscum in our own space.

(Edit: post has been since edited a couple times, originally I facetiously applied the terms to myself because "oooh im so big and bad and scary for having a brain" evidently but someone pointed out it's definitely gonna derail the conversation to have that in the beginning so I removed it.)
