THE BEATLES AT THE NIPPON BUDOKAN, JUNE 30th,1966
This was one of the most controversial concerts given by the band; This place was chosen for its great capacity to have an audience, but the scandal occurred because it was a SACRED PLACE for traditional Japanese people and seeing "irreverent, long-haired and loud-mouthed singers" was a true PROFANATION!!
For this reason, since their arrival in Japan, the Fab received DEATH THREATS from traditionalist groups, who claimed that "They would be damned if they desecrated their sacred temple with their presence."
The immediate solution to this situation was to provide The Beatles with strict POLICE SURVEILLANCE, ensuring that even the ARMY itself would be taking care of the group's safety.
Fortunately, The Beatles were able to give two concerts in this place without reporting any act of violence or aggression of any kind against them or their fans, although there were a large number of protest demonstrations in some streets.
