friend of mine read the first chapter of SOBR and we were discussing and analyzing Beau and Vincent's relationship based on that first impression and she asked me if "Vincent is supposed to be likable". i laughed. we got a new Vincent hater in town folks

i think it depends on who you ask. i personally really like Vincent and find him likable but i'm aware he sucks, y'know? but my best friend hates him and now this friend isn't a fan off the bat

the funny thing to me is i think this really works. SOBR is from Beau's perspective, who constantly puts Vincent on a pedestal and thinks he can do no wrong. he has a deep, unhealthy attachment to Vincent and sort of tells himself off for ever getting frustrated or annoyed with Vincent because Vincent is so nice and means well and yadda yadda.

but the more you think about Vincent, the more you learn about what's going on with his life and his backstory and the way he behaves, it becomes pretty clear that he's honestly like... not a good person. at all. he is truly well-meaning and he tries to be kind but he is a bad person. but SOBR is from the lens of someone deeply and irretrievably in love with him, so i think Beau's perspective clouds things for some readers.

for others not so much she clocked him being shitty so fast LMAO
