Ayo hi wormblr if i made a discord server for worm artists would ppl be interested 🧐 ik there r spaces for writers and stuff and i just want to get to know the artists in this fandom more and yap abt stuff
hello wormers who should I wormdraw next
wormking on a noelle piece in oil paint and smth of ms jessica yamada but im tryna rack my brain for ideas and if anyone has character/ship rqs or ideas.... hit my replies or asks
what supplies do u use for traditional? And what’s ur process, if you dont mind me asking :3
I don’t mind at all!! I typically use alcohol ink markers for color, but have been utilizing colored pencils in for more depth lately. As for my process:
first I sketch out my idea with a 6H pencil, and then increase in softness however feels right (typically 6H, maybe 4H if it’s really rough, H, maybe 2B if I need another transitional stage, and 5B or 6B). Here are my rough (6H) and fine tuned (5B) sketches for the Echidna piece I just posted!
I then line the piece, microns are typically what I use for this. I really like lining the outer line around a piece with a thick (08) pen to give it a cool pop, but mine died so we cope. I use thicker pens (05) for major strokes, and thinner (01, 005) for the details, using 03 as needed in between those.
Then I move on to coloring! I often will just use copics, starting with the lighter colors in a section before getting into the shadows, and blending out with the middle and lighter shades. As seen below, I do a lot chunk by chunk rather than attacking the piece as a whole. When using mixed media with colored pencils, I’ll put down the base shaded layers in copic, go over that with details in colored pencil, and then blend that out with marker. I then detail highlights with white gel pen, using marker over that as needed. I also really love putting a thick marker outline around the whole piece, especially when I’m not making a background but even then, sometimes accompanied by a fine white gel pen lined tighter.
Hope this is helpful, and ty for the ask!
