So 10 years ago the only social media teenagers really used was msn or myspace, never before has the younger generation been exposed so intensely to the media. Now young teenagers can access several kinds of social media 24/7, most of which are heavily image based. This means that not just women, but young girls are now increasingly being confronted by the unrealistic expectations of beauty created by the media. At the age of 13 i think we all can agree how difficult it can be going through the growing up process, nowadays this stage in your life has become much more fragile. With the use of sites like Instagram and Facebook, the pressures of fitting in have scaled from the circle of your social group to a whole world in social media.
