find the word tag
couple of days late, but tysm for the tag @ardawyn!! words: believe, star, secret, bones
believe
Asher let himself believe the two of them were going to be alright. He couldn’t kill the last fury himself anymore, but they didn’t need him. They could kill it together. He braced himself for the claws that were surely about to rip him to shreds, but Arden was twisting, taking up the sword, a furious yell breaking from her throat as she plunged it upward.
star
Darkness clouded his vision and hands were shaking him, or maybe Arden was shaking. Asher retained enough consciousness to realize the movement belonged to Landon, who was turning him over to survey the damage done to his back. They were talking to him, but he couldn’t make out the words because the night was sweeping in, consuming everything except for a burning thing way up in the sky, far off in the distance. A midnight sun. A star falling from the heavens. Gold and crimson flames rippled from its wings, tail feathers tipped with a blazing blue.
secret
“You can stop glaring at me, Ash. It’s not going to change my being here,” she said sharply.
He hadn’t realized he was doing it. “But it makes me feel better.”
“I want to save mother just as much as you do,” she said, crossing her arms. Then she glared at him. “You were just going to leave me there. To sit and do nothing and watch her die.”
Asher glanced away, guilty. He had felt the same, which was indeed why he had taken matters into his own hands.
“How would you feel if Adrian had snuck off on a secret mission to save mother and all of Anveria without you?”
bones
A deafening shriek snaked along his bones as the fury’s claws closed around him and hauled him into the air. He kicked and writhed as sharp talons scraped against metal and the beast ripped away his armor, attempting to rip him apart.
found all of these in the same two chapters near the beginning of TNV and yikes chapter three is rough on my bbys 👀👀👀

tysm for the tag @dove-actually!! words: find, forget, mistake, and problem
find
“They won’t let you come back,” she said quietly. “Not if they find out you were here. That we are the furies. That I am redacted.”
Asher had been trying not to think about what would happen if the curse did break. The Night Veil still hung high and still his step-father had already managed to sink his teeth into Elismarian soil. After so much destruction, what would stop the other kingdoms from following suit? The thought made him sick to his stomach.
“I’ll find a way,” he said, and let his forehead rest against hers.
forget
“You do know you’re not the only monster here, right?” Vega said. “Sometimes I think you forget that.”
mistake
The last time she’d seen Anverians, she’d acted against her better judgement. She’d acted out of hatred and anger and grief, after promising herself she’d never be that kind of ruler, and she’d made the biggest mistake of her life.
problem
“The traitor is the least of our problems,” Olia says. “We have visitors.”
Everly blinks at her. She looks to Finian, then Vega, and back.
“Visitors?”
“Visitors.”
There is suddenly less oxygen in the hall. Her palms are slick, her gown too heavy.
By the time Everly rounds on Vega, she’s already shrinking behind Finian’s bulk and wearing an apologetic smile on her face.
“You knew? This is why you convinced me to wear a dress?”
obviously i’m still trying to decide what tense to write this story in lol. tagging some random people from my notifications! (feel free to skip!) @kaatiba @farrradays @nemowritesstuff @ofinscriptions

here’s the last bit of chapter three of the night veil. (omg the last time i worked on this was..... so long ago 🙈)
“I’m sorry, I—it’s the curse,” Everly tries to explain. “You should go. It isn’t safe here. I’m sorry we can’t help.”
“We’re happy to leave,” the soldier says, grasping Asher’s arm and turning away from them. He hisses to his companion without lowering his voice. “I told you this was a terrible idea.”
But he takes one step and hits an invisible wall.
He tries again. Asher and his sister slowly turn. The girl sticks her hand out and strikes hard air.
“Finian,” Everly says with a feigned sense of calm, masking the rigidity that has spread throughout her body. It takes all of her strength to keep herself composed. To keep the leash on that magic. “Will you please have a guard fetch our best healer. And tell Olia we’ll need some rooms prepared for our guests.”
Slowly they turn to face her, their expressions about as stony as the feeling in the pit of Everly’s stomach. The one called Asher looks like he might actually be physically ill.
Everly summons a neutral tone, squares her shoulders, and says, “Welcome to Elisora.”
Asher collapses on the ground.
poor cinnamon roll asher is having a rough day 😔 for context, Everly tries to tell them that if they cross the invisible barrier they won’t be able to leave but they don’t listen 🙃

relearning my submission
i recently gotten into a dynamic for the first time in yrs and it has been hard
i’ve had many traumatic past experiences in dynamics and then also being out of a dynamic for so long it’s been hard to remember the importance of submission to my Dom
i have a very submissive personality that bleeds into my everyday life and changing my mindset for how i act around others to be less submissively charged has been hard
he’s been patient w me thru this transition but my mind still wars w me as i struggle to not feel like i’m failing and disappointing him constantly….
my submission is his alone yet i feel as if im not submissive enough….
my submission is to honor him yet i feel like i disgrace him a lot
i kno this comes from my past trauma from the lifestyle and is not his fault, esp since i haven’t voiced this to him yet….
being broken when u give urself completely away is hard to come back from
i thought i had grown past my trauma but being back in a dynamic is bringing everything from my past back to the forefront
