"Nicola Formichetti, the multi-tasking designer, stylist, editor, and overall fashion genius, has recently launched a handbag collection for Mugler. I’m currently camping outside of Barney’s until they arrive.
What I love about this collection, is the unanticipated mix of animal skins, giving the bags a distinct look and feel. I recently decided that I will only invest in one major bag a season, being typically sucked into buying too many contemporary bags and wearing each only a few times. Having recently purchased a Reed Krakoff, I’m already thinking of my next must have bag, and I think an item from the Mugler collection may soon be in my closet.
“This is now my 4th collection as creative director of Mugler, and following the evolution of the brand, I was interested in creating sculptured objects in 3D, a piece of the Mugler world that one can carry around, an element that completes the look.”, says Nicola.
The pricing for these babies run from $1050 for a Naboo Clutch in metallic leather (is Nicola a closet Phantom Menace fan?) and up to $18,000 for the Agent 10 in patent crocodile. These lovlies will be hitting stores in February at Barney’s, Maxfield and Opening Ceremony and only at Shopbop.com."
