Drowning

This is a poem I wrote a long time ago. I don’t typically write poems, but I felt I needed to write this one. Please don’t copy my work, I know I am posting anonymously, but that doesn’t give you any right to steal my words. Thank you. 

Drowning

the walls are breaking down

crumbling, and cracking

the ceiling is caving in

darkness is pouring in

I feel like I'm going to drown

in the madness that fills our hearts

in the chaos and hatred humans carry

I'm drowning, drowning

Sucking in the hatred

I can’t get a breath in

Blackness all around

As the light goes out

What happened to the time

When light poured in

What happened when the walls

weren’t caving in

Everything has changed

People are not the same

What once was happy

Has turned to shame

Hearts turn black

Skin grows cold

Why can’t we return to times of old

When caring was a practice and not a belief

When love and support was a daily routine

When did we become sour in our souls

When did the big dam break

Flooding our world with such hate

The future is coming

Will we rebuild the dam

And save us from flooding

Or will the pool become deeper

And make ruin of everything

The choice is not mine but yours to make

One thought can make a difference

Love but don’t hate

HATE is a strong word, so is LOVE. Be careful when use say or use those words. Do NOT say them unless you mean them; for words cutter deeper than any blade.
