Definitely watch Bride and Prejudice -- it's been years and the details are hazy but I remember that I enjoyed it very much.

MMM, I adore Greer Garson as Elizabeth, even if she's old enough to be Mrs. Bennet instead (and maybe a bit too gorgeous). Her delivery of some of those lines... <3 And DO watch Bride and Prejudice, today if possible! It's lovely!

Hee, tried to find a copy this afternoon, actually, but the children interrupted a bit.  Might see if I can watch it after they go to bed?

Also, to anyone else, the 1940 version of P&P is absolutely worth watching if the lack of accuracy won't drive you bonkers.  It's gorgeous.  alsothere'saflirtatiousarcherysceneweallknowthosearenice *coughs*

I do this too, collect every version of every adaptation of Austen that I can find! I’m pretty sure I have all of them now (including Bride and Prejudice, which now I might have to watch today). :D

See, I was quite haphazard in my collecting over the years ,and some of them were VHS, and some of them disappeared in a move, and a few are just slightly illegal rips of things my mother gave me not as nice as the new remastered versions, so I'm staring rather blankly at my collection wondering where it all went?  :D

Though I swear I used to have the old Olivier/Garson version of P&P which is ridiculous and delightful and terribly inaccurate and wonderful but I can't find that either. :P

But I keep not buying proper versions because I know I used to have things, and I've seen most of them, so that seems like a waste?

Only really it's not, I'll watch the darn things, after all.  *laughs*

Though I never have seen Bride and Prejudice.  Kept meaning to and never quite did ...

I'm actually stupidly stoked for your Austen AU, not gonna lie. Though other than that, really? I just want to see Adelaide and Seb get a happy ending. ^_^

I am really liking Lady Aveline Russell, actually, because Lady Russell was loving and loyal and just happened to misjudge a few people because she wanted her darling Anne to be respectable.

Temperament wise, Bethany is really a much better fit for Anne, however, and the standing out and not being properly appreciated fits if she's the only mage, still.

Or the only something else, depending on what I do with magic?

Of course, there are then a couple options for who could be the terribly inappropriate Wentworth.

Pirate Isabela becomes semi-respectable Privateer?

Fenris rises high enough in rank to overcome his low birth?

Rake Sebastian settles down and becomes respectable Sebastian?

OR BASTARD ALISTAIR or DISOWNED NATHANIEL... rises high enough in rank to overcome his previous station, again. *snorts*

/I do not have a plan.  At all. Gosh this is ridiculously entertaining though.

Clearly I shall have to re-read Persuasion and have many thinky-thoughts along the way.  :D
