Ateny’s species ages in phases, with each phase being equivalent to about 4 human years, and can live up through 100 phases (or ~400 years). Upon entering one’s 5th phase, a pair of translucent wings begin to develop. Ateny was in her 4th phase when she died, hence her lack of wings in her current appearance.
