Each level has you needing to separate the bulk cooking into the 30 or so meals for the crew. Occasionally, you get notes about one of them being ill and them needing slightly more, but the amount of food isn't changing.
If anything its going down..
You started with fresh vegetables and meat but that won't last forever, the sound of laughter and cutlery in the background fills the air and the galley is bright as you cook.
You have 30 meals to prepare.
Month two you're cooking salt pork and potatoes. Its not as joyful but a tot of rum with dinner keeps the light chatter going as background to plates and cutlery.
You have 30 meals to prepare.
Month three and there's a cold going through the ship, some mouths need more but at least they've been catching cod off the side of the ship so that can be tossed in.
You have 30 meals to prepare.
The cod went rancid. Fingers are being pointed as to who failed to store it properly, and your kitchen is getting dimmer as the candles burn away. The rations are smaller now. The mini game to divide the meals is getting harder because the amount you're splitting is finer.
You have 30 meals to prepare.
More are sick, there's a full blown epidemic on board and the laughter is gone, candles are burning low and ice is creeping in from the edge as the fire in your galley is the only thing keeping the deck beneath your feet from frosting up. You slice salt pork so thin it might as well be prosciutto. The sound of arguing is all you hear through the walls.
You have 30 meals to prepare.
You have a candle in your ingredients. An inch of salt pork and hard tack. Snow for water because the barrels have grown too much algae. Your range is the only light source. You hear a rising argument above your head and then a single gunshot, followed by a loud thump on the deck above you.
You have 30 meals to prepare.
You have a slab of fresh, fatty meat to break down, with even more on its way. The bread may be hard tack but you can soften and fry it in the fat, sear the meat and stew it. There's not been an easier version of the minigame to divide it up since month one. There's no chatter this time, just the sounds of cutlery, and wet, slurping and chewing.
