Where you friends with any of other egos while you were still The Author?
“The Host swallows nervously. Ah well, the Author… knew Dark. In a different way than the Host does now, though, that is for sure. And… he certainly wouldn’t call it friendship, even then. The Author was but simply an idol to Dark. The Host is almost ashamed to think that part of Dark’s current attitude… may have come from his past self.
“The Host didn’t really know anyone else beforehand, though. Maybe he met Wilford once or twice…. Maybe had an interview. The Host does not remember much.”
harry and i grew up together in my head , and so most of the time , in my head , we are the same age ( though technically he is 11 years older but you know ) . which means usually headcanons / meta come from his headspace at that time. those are the revelations and knowledges that he has. i can obviously go older , but mostly , i like to stay in that headspace of a man who is still figuring everything out but has made a lot of progress. his logic has improved. his ability to see things as they are and not as he presumes them to be is enhanced , and most importantly , he is able to make his own well informed decisions and crop out inherited beliefs in order to create his own. and that is crucial to his development.
you know what, i'm laying here in my bed trying to sleep and i have to be up for work so soon but i can't shut my brain down
and all i can think about is how many angry people there are on this site. angry about life, about the media, politics, freedom, human rights, equality. there are so many people on this site that spend so much time preaching because it's the only place anyone will actually listen to them, and they're just so angry about everything, about anything, and it's directed at everyone and anyone that's even a little bit different.
and what i don't get is how we can all sit here and talk about how we all want equality - for each other, for ourselves, for queer people to have the same rights as straight people, and women to be paid and respected like men, and people of color to be treated the same as white people - but when it comes down to it, no one actually respects that equality. no one respects who the other person is. we're just a bunch of lost souls on the fucking internet yelling and screaming about how no one is listening but everyone is too busy yelling and screaming about their own problems to pay attention.
what everyone forgets is that we all come from the same place. we're all made of stardust that has developed across the millennia into living, breathing creatures that are orbiting a giant fireball on a rock floating between the constellations. we pop out of a vagina and we live a short life and 80 years later or so we die.
so what makes us so different? we're all just a mass of atoms, and yeah maybe our skin colors and ancestry and genitals are different, and maybe we fall in love with different people (or none at all), but those things are circumstantial. we have no more control over who we are and what we look like than we have over the things our ancestors have done in the past.
and when it comes down to it, we spend too much time being angry at each other for things that we can't control. we play the blame game instead of standing together for actual change. and that's fucking stupid. it's really fucking stupid, because in 70 or 80 years, i'll probably be dead, and you probably will too, and maybe we'll be buried next to each other, and what will it matter then?
it won't. it just won't. we'll be history, we'll be gone, we'll be returning to the earth. who's going to walk by our headstones and look at our names and instantly know who we were when we were alive? very few.
and that's life. it's too short to spend being so angry at each other. things may need to change, but change doesn't start with a bunch of people running around in circles shouting at the same time and creating chaos.
so be angry. be angry about war, about politicians, about people who don't want you to be equal, who don't want to protect you. be angry about society, about bad changes, about things that are out of your control. but don't be angry at each other. because in the end, we're all just a bunch skeletons and jack shit will matter. we have to leave a better future than the one we were given and that starts with accepting others for who they are and teaching and learning from one another and standing together and shouting together so loudly that the things we want cannot and will not be ignored.
we're not that different. turn on the news, read a news paper. listen to the reports about people who are our own ages that have died because of violence or heroics or accidents. that could be any of us. we're all incredibly mortal, incredibly fragile, and we have such a short time here. don't spend it all being angry. please. use your anger to change things, but, my god, find something that makes you happy and never let it go.
.

I'm being very much an optimist about this episode, and I love it
It was sad, it was one of the saddest episodes I've ever seen, but it's not the end. There's hope, and it's going to get better, and I can focus on that and everything will be okay.
