#siiiiigh #in my online circles almost everyone I see is very anti-AI #and irl most of my family are very pro-ai #which makes me feel a little very crazy #(also I hate hate hate calling it AI such a stupid name everything can be AI!!! to me it's 'generative technology')#I feel like a lot of my thoughts and feelings towards AI are very hypocritical #like oh it's untrustworthy? well I don't seem to care about that when using Wikipedia and not checking the sources #it harms the environment and is exploitative? good to know those only matters when it's a thing I dislike #you shouldn't relay on it and think for yourself? as if i'm not the laziest stupidest person ever #maybe it is just “new thing bad” mentality #I mean I definitely think there should be way more regulations as it can be exploited really easily #and it's scary to see how much the rich control the world and do whatever they want without consequences #the way everything is scraped for data and everyone's information is being sold is horrible and scary #but that's not really the fault of the users?? Welcome to the Tag Rant where I& elaborate on my& inner world and thoughts #I&'ve been doing a lot of soul searching and little job searching as they say #as usual I&'m constantly ruminating on my& identity and the full inner workings of it and what it means to be me&#it feels as if every new thought and issue I& come across ties back into my& mindset #of viewing myself& not as a person but as a creative performance art project #aka. I& don't see a point in Being something if I& don't Act like it #so for example I& don't see a point in calling myself& aromantic because I&'m in multiple romantic relationships anyway already #(although I& happen to also think I&'m alloromantic for other reasons. I& don't know though. We'll see)#the most obvious consequence of this is that I& keep fakeclaiming myself& and combining parts of me& that are similar enough #<- um. ideally shouldn't have separate parts at all frankly #but the way I&'ve been trying to fuse them is definitely not the way to go about it anyway #well regardless. it's mostly been impacting my& kintypes and inner organization #you would be surprised how much categorizing and organizing you can do with just 3-5 identities #it is however a habit I& should get out of. because I& really don't think it benefits me& at all #besides this I& also realized that I& tie my& identity to my& interests too much #and I&'m considering working on that. it's a deeply ingrained thing that will keep coming up again and again but it will be worth it.#because the consequence of this is that I& keep trying to force myself& to be a fan of things regardless of whether I& still like it or not #it's a little bit funny. obviously it's an autism thing but I& realized that it's actually also an ADHD thing too #because I& kind of begun viewing the fandoms I&'m in as their own sort of creative project #so participating in them became a sort of proof that I& CAN force myself& to keep doing something for prolonged periods of time #doing fandom = beating ADHD. apparently. it's a little funny.#except obviously a project has a finish line and a fandom doesn't. so it was a sisyphian effort from the start.#well I&'ll just try not to define myself& by my& interests as much anymore. if I& can even count them then I&'m doing it wrong.#this is also why I&'ve been trying not to feel guilty for not doing anything for Joe recently #I& have to admit that I&'m just not actively into HC right now instead of carrying it on my& back like a cross #I&'ll still allow myself& to be fictionkin even though that's probably also a symptom.#I& don't think I& actually Could stop being Jack even if I& tried really hard. all it would do is repress it #there's more thoughts but I& already hit 30 tag limit wow damn. guess you'll get the rest of the thoughts next time #I&'ll probably be posting about DSMP. and finally finish that wokedonalds comic. stay tuned

I think there are a lot of hero/vigilante stories, especially when there are systems in place that regulate their actions, where a specific hero will be shown to go against the decision of the group in order to save the day.

This might look like Batman ignoring a ruling of the Justice League in order to handle a situation that no one believes is actually happening unless they have proof. But Batman needs to be able to investigate to acquire proof.

Or, it could look like Superman wanting to step in during an intergalactic situation only to be turned away either by the JL or Lantern Corps because for some reason or another, it isn’t their business. But to Superman, people being hurt will always be his business.

Both of them have circumstances in which they would feel the need to ignore a regulatory body. Which is why heroism/vigilantism usually arises in response to corrupt/ineffective systems of governance. If the cops are corrupt, people turn to vigilante justice. If the government defunds disaster relief, superheroes step in to help during natural disasters.

So, what I think would be a wonderful direction for a fic, is both Batman and Superman sneaking away from the JL or Lantern Corps without telling the other what they’re doing. Each of them has that moment of knowing they have to step in if no one else will but done in ways that mean they also don’t know the other is going to step in.

Because it culminates in another trope I would like to see for them, which is: planet where it’s dangerous to be X.

Both of them sneak away to some alien planet with high stakes loss of potential civilian life, neither knows the other is there, and for one of them (Kryptonian or Human) it’s dangerous to be there. Either it’s a planet that has tried to abduct/sell humans before or Superman being the last Kryptonian also makes him a sort of commodity, but either way, one of them can’t be found out to be an alien.

And you have the alien that is incredibly practiced at blending in and the guy that makes stealth look amateur struggling to maintain their cover.

But!

One of them gets found out.

Neither of them is aware that the other is on this planet. If one of them was captured, the other would still be able to complete the mission. They weren’t relying on each other. In fact, exposing the second person by associating them with the one who is under threat of being found out would but both of them and the mission in danger. It also makes the one of them who is about to be captured, who doesn’t know the other person is there unless they step in, feel responsible for putting them in danger. They accept risk for themselves just fine, but it’s unacceptable to risk someone else in their place.

There is no world in which they don’t step in.

Either they manage to talk their way out of it, in which case they both get to escape to somewhere where they’re able to lay into each other for being monumentally idiotic, or they’re both captured and must now escape and save the day.

But then they also have to grapple with the knowledge that under no circumstances will the one let the other suffer alone. Either it can be prevented or shared.

#superbat #batman #superman #bruce wayne #clark kent #justice league #i keep thinking about clark being found out by alien cops for a valjean moment of lifting a car/carriage or something to help someone #which bruce sees and he considers pushing on towards his goal because he has bigger problems only to recognize the person accused of being #kryptonian and realizing that if he doesn’t step in clark is who is about to be arrested/captured #and clark has no clue bruce is there until a stranger calls out something that has the “cop’’ turning and clark is praying he hasn’t brought #some well meaning civilian into whatever fight is about to break out and that the mission is royally screwed if he was going for stealth #only to see bruce emerging from the crowd and his heart seizes because he had no fucking clue bruce was on the planet with him and could #have put him in jeopardy in a million and one different ways and never known but he’s also forced bruce’s hand into associating with him #instead of pursuing the mission. now they could both be trapped. bruce wouldn’t have been on anyone’s radar if clark hadn’t messed up. bruce #is only stepping in because it’s clark. and there’s no guarentee it’ll work. they could both end up captured and the mission could fail #abysmally for what? the slightest chance they’re not caught? for impervious clark who could crush the cop without a second thought to avoid #whatever unpleasant but bearable consequences they have in store for him? something he is more than capable of withstanding but bruce has #decided he shouldn’t have to? how could that possible be worth the cost of the lives at stake?#what gets me more is that that entire thought process could be flipped and apply to bruce as well #if they weren’t already together before the mission its inescapable that they are after this one because there is no clearer sign of care #than putting yourself and others in jeopardy for the sake of one person you can’t live without
