Chuuya goes on the journey with Dazai because Dazai just so happened to show up around the same time Professor Sycamore decided Chuuya was ready to go on a journey. The Professor also told Chuuya to go with Dazai in case Dazai gets in trouble and/or hurt, and Chuuya (begrudgingly) agreed cause Dazai made a bet with him. And for a secret third option that gets them into trouble later…

Hrmmmmmm…. I know for a fact Dazai have pokemon that are tactfully and strategically useful to him. He doesn’t really care about pokemon overall because ‘he already knows everything about them’. Though he does have a mildly concerning hatred for Slugma… (and a teasing, infuriating love for Whismer- DEFINITELY not because it’s Chuuya’s least favorite Pokemon or anything…)

The transition of Hatenna to Hattrem to Hatterene in evolution, she had found, resulted mainly in an escalation of irritation and pain from the minds surrounding her.

From strong negative emotions as a Hatenna, to all strong emotions as a Hattrem. From those emotions to include the irritation of thoughts as well, as a Hatterene.

Frankly, she can't blame most of her kin for becoming murderous in their reclusiveness, not when a flock of passing birds could become a head splitting migraine.

She, however, is stronger than that. Strong enough that she has very kindly not slaughtered the entire herd of stantler-like creatures that pass through her territory occasionally.

No, she merely grits her non-existent teeth, hunkers down in her lair, and waits for them to leave.

Except this time, they seem to have lost something.

Something that cries out, loud and obnoxious and alone.

Must she do everything herself?

In the snows of this constantly frigid island she's found herself on, she makes her to the source of the sounds. A source that she finds, is...a very small stantler-thing.

She stares at it. It bleats at her, almost blasting her with its hunger and pain and-

(Loneliness.)

Why is it here, instead of with its kin? Its mother? They aren't like Hatenna, who just hatch out of the egg and wander off to their own devices.

Hm. Its nose...is differently colored? Blue.

Oh, she understands, nodding to herself, tendrils drifting in the growing winds. It's a Shiny stantler-thing. Shinies don't tend to do well, in the wild. Not with how different they are in their coloring, said coloring attracting all kinds of enemies.

So the Shiny has been left here, as not to drag down the herd. How predictably cold hearted of the stantler-things, as cold as the landscape about them.

It would be kind of her, on the other hand, to kill the Shiny here and now. Save everyone the effort, get meat for her larder.

She lifts her tendrils up, coating them with Psychic force, ready to put an end to the creature's no doubt miserable life so far. A Psycho Cut should do nicely-

It looks at her. And she gets a nice full blast of want to live want to live want to live right to her already throbbing skull!

'Ugh!' She shakes her head, letting her energy die down. 'Really? Even when you've known nothing else?'

The stupid Shiny doesn't answer her like a proper Pokemon would, because it's not one. The fact that it isn't a Pokemon and has quieter thoughts as a result is the one reason she hasn't already blasted it to bits. Truly.

Dumb thing even crawls up to her.

She resists the urge to punt it, just toss it across her forest with a Psybeam or two. Or three.

(It's alone. Alone like-)

(A broken pokeball, that she keeps at the bottom of her lair. Never far but never where she has to see it. Hers.)

'Fine. But I'm not helping you, got it? You can survive on your own.

That determined, she swishes her way back through the trees. Strongly ignoring the buzz following behind her, pushing back the aches in her temple that grow alongside that buzz.

Some seasons pass, all of them the same winter snow here. Sometimes less snow than other times, but always snow. She's really at risk of becoming a Froslass at this rate, what a thought!

And through those seasons, the little Shiny snuffles about and somehow survives. Keeps on living, despite the weird things she finds it eating here and there.

She isn't checking on it, are you crazy? She's only being certain that the buzz is the Shiny and not a trespasser.

...Some other trespasser.

It's only when the Shiny somehow grows itself a human brain, that she's forced to kick it out.

It's for its own good, really. Otherwise she would end up killing it, the scream of human thoughts and worries so much worse than mere animals.

And with that human brain, it'll find humans to take it in.

It has to.

Aloha in the Pokemon AU. He’s a Water-type Gym Leader and a surfer, and the 4th Gym Leader chronologically. His Gym Challenge would revolve around raising or lowering the water level to make a path of floating platforms.

Aloha does pull his identity theft trick, disguising himself as Safari and waiting in the Gym while the real Safari is out on a bug collecting trip. He challenges Team Blue with a weaker team before telling them where the real Safari went.

Also, after Team Blue beats Aloha’s actual Gym Battle, Rider gives their bikes the water upgrade.
