I like what you said about the relationship conflict being personal insecurity. I swear the main couple conflict is always misunderstandings and jealousy which frustrates me so it is really refreshing to see Tine insecure and fearing their relationship will end with Wat being there to reassure him that they control their destiny
Yeah, to me the best kinds of conflict are always the ones driven by the characters themselves. Some kind of character flaw or behaviour or insecurity, as is this case, that cause issues within the relationship. Because I like it when the characters dont just sit around waiting for the plot to happen aka something/someone outside of themselves to come and fuck shit up - I mean, dont get me wrong, having a good villian IS also super cool and I love that as well but I also like seeing the protagonists being active in the their own story.
And another thing if your conflict is character-driven and comes from your characters making bad decisions/havingflaws/ect that provides the perfect opportunity for character development. And I LIVE for well-written character development (as my earlier ramblings about character flaws and consequences and development showed).
In this regard, I think 2gether has done a fantastic job so far. The show doesnt really have a villian who causes issues for the heroes - I mean I know people are frotting at the mouth about Mil but like... what has he done really? He hasnt caused a single argument between Tine and Sarawat (which have I mentioned how much I LOVE the way Wat deals with this like he doesnt get angry at *Tine* like in many other shows you’d see the love interest be like omg, why did you let him flirt with you, dO YoU LiKe HiM NoW??? and cue ridiculous jealousy fight that doesnt even make sense because you can’t control other people trying to flirt with you damnit *ahem* sorry but he just makes sure to tell Mill where to shove it and continues taking care of his baby like the best boyfriend he is AHEM, I’ll shut up now I swear), he’s not ruining their relationship, he’s not plotting to break them up, he’s mildly annoying and too damn persistance, for sure, but given both Tine and Wat’s overall reaction to him, he’s little more than an annoying fly circling around their heads. But instead, everything that has happened so far, everything that has shaped their relationship has been the product of their own choices and behaviour (with help from their friends) just like Sarawat said. They made this. Their own effort and decisions.
And so going along with that I thought it was incredibly fitting and logical that the finale conflict is also going to come from *them* - specifically Tine’s insecurities which this episode did a spectacular job of brigning to the surface and showing how very fragile Tine’s emotions actually are and how uncertain he is about everything right now. And next ep when Wat’s old friend shows up I can see exactly what thoughts are going to get in Tine’s head and it’s gonna be
but if they play their cards right, the end result of this is gonna be a stronger and much more secure Tine. A Tine who is confident and sure of not only his own feelings but of Wat’s feelings and their relationship and the fact that if they make the effort for it, it’s gonna last no matter what obsticles they have to face.
