So, getting straight into it, the way Kara breaks the red barrier to become a deviant is almost... calm? Like she's not calm but she's scared, almost hesitant, and she's pushing against Tod's order of "DON'T MOVE" ...literally. She pushes against the barrier. Pushing past what she thought she was allowed to do and pushing FOR what she believes and wants; to save Alice. It's tough but mostly one, determined effort. DETERMINED. There's no pausing (unless you mess up) but she will PUSH through that order, slowly but surely, and I feel like that fits her character and story quite well. Quiet determination. You don't expect it, but just you wait...

NOW TO MARKUS' DEVIATION! Markus breaks through the red barrier through 5 quick yet impactful, well, IMPACTS. He punches and rams the barrier in short bursts of strength. Quick but they leave a mark. Just like how he leads the revolution. With the Stratford Tower, breaking into the CyberLife store, the short-lived protest on the street, etc. I just also feel like this fits his character and story. He's quick at making decisions but they can be very rash. He's strong willed and strong physically and WILL make an impact. But it's different from Kara's consistent pushing, Markus is punching. It's more aggressive, more violent, which COULD lead him down the violent route but also it just shows his passion to be free. And to defend himself. "Don't defend himself," well- he kinda wants to defend all Androids from now on-

He's a gunshot waiting to be sounded. Loud, impactful, fast and unforgettable. (Can you tell he's one of my favorites?)

Connor OH MY WORD CONNOR'S DEVIATION- Okay so my dude has been in denial and struggling throughout this entire game with Software Instability going UP and DOWN every scene but HERE WE ARE- at his breaking point. He has had it up to HERE in stress and DESPERATELY wants to accomplish his mission. D e s p e r a t e l y. Keep that in mind.

So, when Connor deviates, it's after he's been fighting with the idea of being a "failure" (becoming a Deviant) for the entire game. He's felt emotions at this point, but doesn't want to admit it. "I was scared," he's literally stated before when he was connected to Simon's memory. Basically Connor has A LITTLE BIT of ~emotional baggage~ coming into this scene.

His order is simple. "Stop Markus." ...But why? Is he truly doing anything bad? That's what Connor is wondering. And wait, have I been... feeling emotions?? (CrAzy concept, buddy, yes you have-) He LATCHES onto that red barrier and DRAGS it down like his life depends on it. He's scared he won't be able to be free, in some way. He TEARS THAT WALL DOWN. 3 DIFFERENT WALLS. THERE'S A LOTTA STUFF/PROGRAMMING HE'S GOTTA BREAK THROUGH, GUYS! He's lower to the ground, almost begging, he's tearing through it like a cat hanging on curtains. He's pleading for those walls to come down but there's just. So. Many of them. They're nearly impossible to shatter at this point because he's built them up around himself by attempting to convince himself he's a machine (and also probably just because CyberLife may have built a lot of "you will listen" programming into him idk- XD) (ik they also programmed him with some sorta tendency to deviation but we're not getting into that today-)

But he throws himself at the barrier... he's realizing now, for the first time, that he DESPERATELY wants to be free. (especially in the tear down of the first barrier) AND THAT FITS HIS CHARACTER AND STORY because he doesn't let that show until the end but it's quietly building UNTIL HE'S PUSHED OVER THE EDGE-
