This week is officially over, but if you still have late submissions I’ll definitely reblog them. Just let me know via ask box if I don’t see them in the tag within a day (it’s the run up to finals week so I might not be checking the tag as often) Also, I’ll be putting out a masterpost of things later, but that won’t be for a few days (probably it’ll happen on my break from bioorganic misery)
Day One - Soulmate Tattoos - sorry, but I haven’t been able to upload these until now aa, hope this suffices!
Luisa thrummed her fingers against the arm of her chair in the middle of a waiting room. Each finger hit the rough surface just as the previous one lifted ever so slightly. Yet, there seemed to be a falter as her ring finger hit the arm. She seemed to falter at it. Ocean blue eyes glared at the finger. It was tainted, it was stained. Poisoned. Against the fair skin, a black band accented with swirls and curves blared at the world. A one of a kind pattern. A mark. A claim to someone she had never met and to someone she most likely had no desire to meet. Everyone had them – it was how they found their ‘special someone’ if you must. But why would this be a surprise? The world was a sadistic place after all. A small scowl crawled across the normally dormant mask Luisa wore, her eyes flashing with anger. Before Pieter, her companion – sidekick – friend, could question the expression, the tall blonde stood jerkily, withdrawing her hand and clenching her fingers close to the palm.
“Luisa, Luisa Meyer?” A young woman with soft features – yet strong red-hair curling around her face stepped around the corner, clipboard drawn close to her face as she read the name.
“Ja.” Luisa mumbled, walking forward, feeling Pieter behind her in a heartbeat. The red-haired girl faltered for a moment, quite shocked to see a pair of 6” Germans glaring down at her with such authority that they could be royalty.
“Meeting with Beca Mitchell?” She swallowed with a weak smile, her blue eyes flicking back down the clipboard almost breaking in her hard grip. Luisa nodded once, reverting her attention to Pieter with a curious ‘what-the-hell?’ face. Pieter shrugged his large, reasonably solid shoulders and gestured for the blonde to follow. Luisa turned back around and caught up to the retreating red-head with a few strides, her eyes flickering across the hall as she went. The walls were a deep creamy-brow – adorned with records and awards of sorts. Throughout the entire walk – photocopiers, clocks ticking and heavy handed keyboard users could be heard. Luisa almost frowned. She was never one for much noise in a place. A sharp turn and a few doors down, the ginger, who Luisa had been informed was called Chloe, turned on her heels and shot them a smile. With a feeble hand, Chloe tapped on the door before blinking at the wall in silence.
“Beca?” Chloe called, tapping once more.
“Whu? Oh, oh, ye- yes – come in?” A voice called in from the office, it sounded weak and heavy – almost sleep deprived. Luisa shot Chloe a furrowed eyebrow glance and the young girl shrugged also, seeming utterly exasperated. She opened the door, allowing Luisa to get a quick glance at the tattoo on her ring finger. No luck.
“Scheiße.” Luisa breathed. Pieter clapped her on the back softly, knowing what she was looking for. Chloe, however, had not heard the exchanged and pushed open the door.
“Your, um, 3:30 meeting? Luisa Meyer and Pieter Kramer?” Chloe prompted, her eyes flashing across to the two Germans now eyeing the wall of record prizes.
“God damn it why-,” Beca inhaled sharply, pinching the bridge of her nose in defeat. With a swift movement, she sent all of the papers on her desk scattering into her trashcan before dropping it back to the floor. With a tense jaw and heavy eyes, Beca leaned forward – interlocking her hands on the table in front of her. “So, Luisa and Pieter – I hear you’re interested in a partnership?”
Luisa turned on her heels and glanced at the woman sitting at the desk. She was pale, much too pale to be considered really healthy – but not too much for it to be considered sickly. Her mousey brown hair was mussed and tangled from constant fixing and perhaps, from fingers brushing through in frustration. Her green eyes were dull, the bags under them deep blue. Her shoulders were slumped and it looked as though she might pass out from sleep deprivation right on that table top.
“We are,” Pieter spoke up after a moment’s hesitation of his counterpart. To anyone else in the room, it only looked as though Luisa was staring down at the young woman – almost as though as was figuring out a million ways to gut her. But Pieter knew better. He knew Luisa was stumped. “We have been interested in quite a while.” He continued, sitting down on one of the small chairs far to petite for his stature. Luisa was in the one next to him at a moment’s notice, her ocean blue eyes still trained on the tired woman.
“Ah, glad I kicked everyone’s asses out of the way before they snatched you up, eh?” Beca noted, shuffling a few files until she found a pen and a pad of paper that looked a few years old.
“You kicked the ass? I doubt it, Tiny Maus.” Luisa spoke up, her voice deep and predatory as a smug smirk crawled across her sharp featured. Beca hesitated for a moment, the head of the pen drifting across the page – but never quite coming into contact with the lined sheet.
“Pet names already, hm?” The brunette shot back, her hand re-adjusting the pen with a small scowl.
“Don’t break the pen – little one.” Luisa teased softly, her eyes flicking down to how the pen creaked under the pressure of Beca’s grip. A small tongue darted out between cracked lips and Beca shot Luisa a glare.
“So what can you,” Beca gestured to the two Germans, “from DSM, bring to our company?”
“Records, fame, money.” Pieter explained, beating Luisa to the point before she continued teasing the young woman in front of them. God damn they needed this company. If Luisa was going to ruin it with her messed up strategy of flirting – he may as well butter them up enough for the future DSM. Luisa watched as Beca wrote down a few things, her eyes scattering across the brown locks that fell perfectly across a delicate neck.
“It must be hard, in a large business – while being so small.” Luisa commented, half referencing the company that was quite unheard of, while also referring to the height of it’s boss. Beca tensed for a moment.
“Shut your god-damned perfect mouth.” A sudden tumble words escaped the brunette, making her sit straighter in her chair. Pieter shot Luisa a surprised, almost astonished face, while the blonde leant back in her chair with a predatory grin.
“What was that, Tiny Maus?”
“You bloody know what I said, German Goddess.” Beca huffed in anger and embarrassment before standing up and pushing back her chair. “Thank you for coming, I need to reschedule today’s meeting.” The woman opened the door, looking utterly drained and almost as if she were going to cry. Pieter shot Luisa an accusing frown before standing up also, tucking his own file under his armpit.
“Thank you for meeting with us, please contact us again soon as possible.” Pieter grinned sympathetically, holding out his hand. Beca took it and shook it firmly. Luisa’s heart leapt into her throat and her body flooded with confusion and surprise. She looked closer at Beca’s ring finger, tracing the patterns she’d spent hours tracing on herself. Luisa swallowed and shot Pieter a glance before stepping forward herself.
“Nice meeting you, Maus.” The blonde grinned slightly, pushing out her own hand once Pieter had begun heading down the hall – obviously pissed at her actions. Beca furrowed her eyebrows, cheeks heating up slightly.
“Likewise.” The brunette replied, clasping Luisa’s hand. “Wh-your hands are so soft.” Beca breathed out with sudden shock, withdrawing her hand soon after as if she had been burnt. Luisa laughed and nodded softly.
“Call us soon, ja?”
“Oh shit.” Beca suddenly grabbing her pen and pad once more. She stepped forward and pushed it forward. Luisa smirked and cocked her eyebrow slightly. “I don’t have your contact number – and since you’re the co-leader – it would be a good idea.” Beca explained quickly, her cheeks reddening.
“U-huh.” The dismissive tone made Beca bristle, but in a good way. How could someone even bristle in a good way? Luisa wrote down the number and went to hand the paper back – only to see Beca gaping like a fish at her finger.
“Snap?” Luisa laughed and held up her ring finger with a playful smile. Beca stood rigid for a moment, her heart hammering in her chest. God damn, she hoped Luisa wasn’t always an asshole. The brunette held up her own finger and shook her head. “Snap.” She replied with an almost disbelieving tone.
Luisa laughed lightly, making Beca’s blood run cold for a moment. “I will expecting that cool soon then, ja?”
“Ja, oh hell ja.”
Beca was currently sweating bullets. She was with the Bellas. They had come to watch the car show that the German group had gotten when they were stripped of it due to the… wardrobe malfunction Amy had. The German team, Das Sound Machine, had won the Worlds the past three years in a row, were at least twice the size of the Bellas, and had male voices to hit the bass notes. They had started with the most beautiful woman Beca had ever seen giving an introduction via some screens. When they hit the stage, their performance was outstanding. They were obviously more skilled choreographically, and had a larger group to do a wider variety of things with. The selection of songs was odd, but it worked strangely well.
And yet, none of this was bothering Beca. None of this was the reason she was currently freaking out. Hell, she was barely paying attention to anyone except for the blonde, who was clearly the leader of the group. When she looked online, she had seen that her stage name is “Kommissar.” Beca was staring at her, and the intense nagging in the back of her head was driving her insane. What if she just made a run for it? She could feel it ticking inside her stomach, where her clock had conveniently been placed at birth.
Ah, yes, everyone is born with a countdown timer for when they will first meet their soulmate. The one you are destined to love for eternity. Some were unlucky and had theirs in plane sight, such as inside their wrist or on their forearm, but Beca was lucky enough to have it on her abdomen. That would be why Beca was currently having an aneurysm alone. Because none of the Bellas know that hers was down to mere minutes right now. She shifted on her feet, and Chloe shot her a concerned glance. She shook her head and focused back on the performance. That’s when she saw it. She’s not 100% sure, but she knows she just saw Kommissar’s clock on the inside of her left wrist. Like I said, Beca’s not sure, but the numbers looked pretty fucking close to hers. This would be when Beca’s throat constricted and her heart started pounding. How the fuck could that woman perform like that with her clock so close to zero? Beca was having enough trouble just standing right now, and holy fuck the performance is over. Beca focused and felt the clock.

They were halfway across the room, and Beca made eye contact with the Kommissar. She briefly saw the woman’s eyes go wide, then she went back to her, what Beca assumed, persona.

They were only a few feet away now, and Beca felt like she was about to pass out. How do they handle this? They are the leaders of opposing teams here! Will she mention it? Should Beca?

Beca got a better look now that she was closer, and, yes, her clock does match Beca’s. It was down to these last few seconds as well.

“Barden Bellas!” Kommissar greeted, standing in front of Beca. Her mind went completely blanked at the sight of her. She was absolutely beautiful. Blonde hair pulled tightly back, the obvious muscle mass on her arms and abdomen, her smirk that was supposed to be intimidating but just made Beca want to hug her really tightly, and her eyes. They were dark blue, but not as dark as Beca’s. Their eyes fucking complemented each other's, really?! While she was staring, she vaguely heard Chloe, Amy, Kommissar, and DSM’s second hand, the tall man, bantering, but she was frozen. The blonde German goddess made eye contact with Beca, a look in her eyes, so she knows. She knows that Beca is her soulmate, and she’s not going to do anything about it?! What the fuck is going to happen? Beca knows she’s going to see Kommissar again at worlds, but what happens after that? Is the Kommissar going to be in Germany? What the fuck is she gonna do? The thought of being away from the blonde already hurts, and she doesn’t even know her name.
“Well, I would love to continue our chat, but I must go and rest my neck. It is sore from looking down on you.” That sentence snapped Beca out of her trance. Before they could leave, Beca stuck her hand out to the blonde.
“Wir sehen uns auf der Welt Wettbewerb,” she said with the outstretched hand. DSM, and the Bellas alike, seemed shocked that Beca knew German. Kommissar took her hand with a smirk, more playful than anything. Though, Beca did notice, with a strange sense of pride, that Kommissar’s pupils had dilated when she spoke in the blonde’s native tongue.
“Ich werde Sie dort sehen , kleine Maus.”
“Möge das beste Team gewinnen,” she replied, not wanting to let go of the blonde’s hand just yet.
“Ja, sie werden.”
“Es war eine Freude, Sie zu treffen , Kommissar.” The blonde grinned at her.
“Auch Sie, Mäuschen.” Beca took the exchange as a good sign. They would talk about the whole being soul mates thing at the World’s then. DSM followed as Kommissar left. When they were gone, the Bellas practically assaulted her.
“Beca! What the hell was that?!” Chloe yelled angrily. Beca recoiled at the redhead’s anger.
“Calm down Chlo, jesus. I said that I’d see them at the World’s, and that the best team would win.”
“You’re not supposed to be friends with the enemy!” Beca shrugged, not wanting to talk about it.
“Let’s get out of here guys. We saw what we came for.” Chloe huffed at her nonchalance and stormed away, the Bellas following her. Beca stopped and looked around, hoping to catch one more glance at Kommissar before they parted. She saw the blonde in the corner with a group of suits, most likely talking about sponsorships, and noticed that the blonde was looking at her too. She smiled softly at Beca and tapped her wrist where Beca knew the clock was. Beca returned the smile and nodded as she placed her hand on her abdomen, where her clock was. Kommissar mouthed something that looked strangely like “email,” and pointed at a sign with DSM’s email. Beca nodded, then turned to follow the Bellas. She caught up to them as they were exiting the building, and fell into step with Stacie.
“So, anything you have to share Bec?” Beca looked up at the taller brunette. They had become really close over the years. Beca trusted Stacie the most out of anyone in the group; they’re best friends.
“I’ll tell you when we get back.”
“Alright. Just know that I’m here.” Beca hip bumped Stacie, which really hit her thigh, but whatever.
“Yeah, yeah.”
Beca was now pacing Stacie’s room. She couldn’t figure out how to tell Stacie that she just met her soulmate, who happened to be the leader of their rival acapella team.
“Oh come on Beca, it can’t be that bad. It’s not you met your soulmate or anything,” she said jokingly. Beca stopped pacing and slowly turned to face Stacie, who was lounging on her bed. Her jaw dropped when she saw Beca had stopped pacing.
“Wait, what? You… you didn’t really did you?” Beca bit her lip and nodded.
“And you didn’t tell me before now that it was coming up?!” Stacie stood up then, facing Beca. She ran a hand over her face tiredly.
“Look, I didn’t want to make a big deal out of it. We were going to scope out the competition, and I didn’t want to, like, psyche anyone out or anything.”
“Well, who is it? Out with it!” Beca shuffled on her feet.
“Uh, well, it’s uh…” Beca couldn’t finish the sentence, but Stacie’s jaw dropped again.
“No fucking way,” she breathed out.
“Look, I didn’t think it was gonna be a member of DSM! I thought it was gonna be someone who was there or something! I especially didn’t expect it to be their female leader. And now we’re not gonna see each other until Worlds, then after that I don’t even know. Because I’ve been trying so hard at this internship, and I have no idea what she’s doing after Worlds. What if she’s staying in Germany? What if-”
“Wait, back up. You guys didn’t even talk to each other at all? What was all that in German then?”
“I told you guys what I said. We basically just acknowledged the fact that we are… ya know… soulmates or whatever, and said that we would see each other at the World's.” Stacie huffed as Beca’s face fell, suddenly her eyes went wide.
“What? Wait, Beca, what?”
“Email. She told me to email her through DSM’s email! I gotta go Stace!”
“Keep me in the loop, shit head!” Stacie yelled as Beca bolted out of Stacie’s room down the hall to hers. She jumped onto her bed and opened her laptop. She Googled the DSM work email and copied it. She opened a new email to it, and hesitated. There is no way that the blonde is the only one who checks their entire email. How will she know it’s Beca? They don’t even know each other’s names! Beca groaned as she stared at the stupid blinking line in the subject box. She took 15 minutes to write the whole thing, which she took as a record. She’s not the best at writing words.
Mäuschen Was the title.
Hi, this is Beca, from the car show, not that you actually got my name, but I figured we could talk before the World’s, if that’s cool with you. I’m not really sure where to start with this, if I’m honest. If you want to talk, you can email me back, or if you’d prefer, here’s my cell number. Worst case scenario, I’ll see you at the World’s, and we can talk then.
-Beca
After she sent it, she stared at her screen for ten minutes, waiting for it to turn from “delivered” to “read.” After the 11th minute, she groaned in frustration. She looked up when she heard Stacie laughing in the doorway. Beca glared at her with her actual glare, which shut her up. Beca’s never given a Bella her actual glare before.
“Sorry, just kidding around,” Stacie said , holding her hands up in surrender. Beca hung her head with a sigh.
“No, not your fault. I’m just stressed or whatever…”
“Well, did you email her yet?”
“I did.”
“And?” Stacie asked impatiently.
“She said that I’m the nicest person she’s ever met, and that I shit rainbows,” she deadpanned. Stacie looked unamused.
“She hasn’t responded then?”
“No. But I mean… it is like… their work email. So who knows if she’s even the one reading them? Someone else could be reading them and just trashed it,” she said with a shrug. Beca’s phone chimed on the table. Stacie looked at her with a wicked grin, then they both jumped for the phone. Stacie obviously got it first, and using her ridiculously long extremities to keep it out of Beca’s reach, opened the message.
“Oooh, it’s a foreign number! I wonder who it is Beca? Should we see? I think we should.”
“I think we shouldn’t,” she grit out as she once again jumped at Stacie’s hands. Stacie began reading with a terrible German accent.
“Tiny maus! I’m glad to hear from you. I would be more than happy to talk with you. My name is Luisa, by the by. I think she meant by the way,” Stacie added without her accent.
“Give it Stace! I didn’t do this to you when you and Aubrey were just getting together.” Stacie pouted as she handed the phone back, and it promptly buzzed in her hand. Beca ushered Stacie out, then flopped onto her bed and opened the new text from the contact she had just put in for Luisa.
“Luisa,” she said out loud once, smiling as the name fell from her mouth. She looked down at the phone and read her newest message.
“I am sorry, but I am about to start a practice. Would it be alright if I called you when it is finished?” Beca smiled and replied instantly.
“Of course. Can’t wait. :)” She received a smiley face back, causing her to smile. She was a little surprised that they were having a practice literally right after they performed, but whatever. Then her name was being called downstairs. She tromped down the stairs and found all the Bellas gathered around the living room.
“You yelled for me Chloe?”
“Yes! It’s bonding night! We’re playing truth or dare today! Come, sit,” she said as she patted the space between her and Stacie. Beca rolled her eyes, but went over nonetheless. Beca plopped down between the two girls. It only took a few rounds before the soul mates got brought up. No one asked Stacie, because duh, she’s with Aubrey. Everyone knows that drama.
“Beca, truth or dare?” Amy asked. Knowing Amy, Beca isn’t safe no matter what she chooses.
“Dare, I guess.” Amy smiled mischievously.
“I dare you to show us your clock.” Beca’s face fell. Everyone was looking at her, waiting.
“Uh, no?” She asked with a raised eyebrow.
“Oh, no, shortstack. You have to. It’s the rules.” Beca groaned as she stood up. She pulled her shirt up to show her clock, which read “00:00:00:00:00:00.” There were a few gasps. Beca sat back down after ten seconds.
“Happy?”
“Wait, you met your soulmate already! Beca, why didn’t you tell us?” Chloe asked. Beca shrugged, not wanting to get into it. Her phone rang, saving her from further interrogation. She didn’t recognize the number, but the area code was the same as Lusia’s, so she answered, excusing herself from the game.
“Hello?”
“Hallo, is this the troll?” Beca recognized the male leader’s voice.
“Uh, sure. It’s Beca. I didn’t catch your name.”
“Oh! Mein Name ist Pieter.”
“Good to know. Is there, uh, any reason you called?”
“Ah, yes. Unfortunately there was an accident of sorts during practice. Luisa was hurt.”
“Is she okay? What happened?”
“One of the members had a slips during a move, and Luisa fell. She has hit her head on the floor. We are at the hospital. I thought it would be good to call you, ja?”
“Ja, danke. Which hospital are you at?” Beca had already bounded up the stairs, put her shoes on, and was grabbing her things to leave. She put on a jacket, and grabbed her wallet.
“I think they called it Barden General?”
“Yeah, I’ll be there in 15-20 minutes. Thanks again for calling me.”
“It is no problem. Luisa has been on her nerves for a week.”
“I think you mean ‘on my nerves,’ dude.”
“Whatever. Your idioms make no sense anyway.. I will see you soon, then? We are in room 153.”
“Yeah, see you soon.” Beca was opening the door to leave when she heard the Bella’s.
“She’s in the hospital, I got to go!” was all she said as she practically ran out of the house. She broke several traffic laws on her way to the hospital. When she got there, she all but booked it into the hospital. Her tiny body was wracked with worry, over a woman she had just met today.
“Hi, where is room 153?”
“If you go to the second floor, take a right out of the elevator, it should be down the hall.” Beca sprinted to the elevator, and waited impatiently as it brought her up. She ran to the room and walked into the open room. She was out of breath when she got there. Pieter was sitting in the chair in the corner on his phone, and Luisa was lying in the bed asleep.
“Is she okay? What happened?” Pieter looked up at her with a grimace.
“The doctor says it is a concussion. She has not gotten up yet.” Beca sighed as she moved into the room. She took the empty chair next to Luisa’s bed and took the blonde’s hand in hers.
“Maus,” Pieter said. She looked up at him.
“I think you know already, but Luisa is nothing like the Kommissar.” Beca nodded.
“Yeah, I figured. It can’t be easy leading a group like DSM. You guys are like a worldwide sensation. She’s got a lot on her shoulders. I bet she feels like DSM’s mistakes are hers, doesn’t she?” Pieter snorted out a laugh in agreement.
“Much too much.” Beca tucked a piece of Luisa’s hair behind her ear gently. Pieter’s phone dinged, and he cursed in German.
“I must go. There is a problem with someone in the group. I trust you will take care of her?” He asked in a warning tone.
“Course. I’ll text you if anything changes.” Pieter nodded, then took his leave. Beca stayed in the seat, looking at Luisa’s sleeping form. She really was beautiful.
“So beautiful,” Beca muttered. It was about half an hour after Pieter left that Luisa started to wake up. Beca watched as her eyes fluttered open, and she made a confused face. She looked at Beca and blinked a couple times.
“Maus?” Beca chuckled.
“Hey. How much do you remember?” Luisa blinked a few times while she tried to remember.
“We were practicing for the Worlds. I do not remember much.” Beca nodded.
“Pieter told me someone dropped you. I’ll be asking for a name so I can have a word. I can’t fucking believe someone dropped you.” Luisa shook her head good naturedly at Beca’s anger.
“What happened?”
“You got a concussion. Pieter called me and I came here as fast as I could.”
“How long have I been out?” she asked as she tried to sit up. Beca gently pushed her back down, giving her a pointed look.
“I’ve been here about half an hour. Pieter left a little after I got here. Something about a problem with someone in your group.” Luisa groaned.
“Dummkopfs.” Beca shrugged, since she doesn’t know any of them. She gently brushed back a piece of Luisa’s hair.
“My friends are gonna kill me,” she said with a shake of her head. Luisa looked at her funny.
“Why would they do that?” Beca raised an eyebrow.
“They won’t be too happy that you’re the DSM leader. But they’ll have to get over it.” Luisa nodded in understanding.
“Ja, Pieter was not very amused when I told him it was you either. His happiness for me finding you outweighed the fact that we are rivals though.”
“They’re just really… intense about the Worlds right now is all. They didn’t even know about this until after we already met.”
“You did not talk about the countdown before hand?” Beca shook her head.
“No. I’m a really private person. And, I mean, they’re family and everything, I know. I just didn’t want to make a big deal out of it. No one but my friend Stacie knows it’s you. All anybody else knows is that my clock is at zero.” Luisa nodded, then grimaced.
“Head hurt?”
“Ja. The room is spinning.” Beca pushed the button on the monitor to give Luisa some painkillers.
“Those should help. You can go back to sleep if you want to. I’ll be here.” Luisa’s eyes started drooping, and she pulled on Beca’s hand. Beca was confused.
“What is it beautiful?”
“I wish for you to lie down with me,” she mumbled sleepily. Beca popped her shoes off and slid onto the bed. Beca moved up so Luisa was curled into her side. It was a little odd because Luisa was a lot taller, but they made it work. Luisa kissed Beca’s cheek then laid her head on Beca’s shoulder.
“Danke, Mäuschen.” Beca blushed, and Luisa fell asleep within minutes. Beca knew, right then, that if she had to, she would move to Germany when she graduated so she could be with Luisa. She felt her phone vibrate in her pocket and took it out. She had been ignoring it before. She had too many messages. All from the Bellas asking about her soul mate. Stacie was the only one she answered.
“At the hospital. She has a concussion. I’m staying here with her.” The response was immediate.
“What’s she like????”
“I don’t know. But I look forward to finding out.”
For those of you who also post on AO3 I just put up the 2016 Becommissar Week collection on there. If you type in Becommisssar week in the collection box when you’re posting your story it’ll be the first one that pops up. Good luck and happy posting.
She’s known since she was little that the tattoo was what would lead her to her soulmate. She also knew that the tattoo her dad had did not match the one her mom had, so she was prepared for the divorce. What she wasn’t prepared for, was her dad to leave and never come back when he found Sheila. Beca was eight when he left. She and her mom were okay though, without him, because her mom was free to find her soulmate. Beca had looked at her own over and over and decided it was better to hide it. She made sure her shirts always covered her right shoulder, where the pink flowers and thorny intertwined vines were stained into her skin. Beca’s focus was making sure her mom was happy, since she hadn’t been quite the same since her dad left. Beca’s focus was on finding the man or woman with the staff and music notes on their left shin. For her mother. Her mother’s happiness is her happiness.
When Beca was fifteen, she was shopping for a mother’s day gift in the mall. She went up to the desk to ask if they had a certain dress in another size. She was waiting for the woman to come back when she spotted someone standing in the store. He had a large build, broad shoulders, and was in great shape. He had a head of blonde hair, and was humming to himself while sorting through girls shirts. Beca’s eyes were focused on his leg, his left leg, to be exact. She walked over to him, her eyes glued to his leg.
“Hi, can I help you?” the man asked her in a German accent. Her eyes moved up to meet his blue-green ones.
“Oh, uh, sorry. I… can I look at your leg?” He cocked his head.
“Of course. I rather like the tattoo I was given. Unfortunately, I haven’t met the one who matches it yet.” he said with a smile. It was warm, friendly, and inviting. Beca looked at the staff and music notes on his leg, and her smile almost split her face in two. She looked up to him with bright eyes.
“I know who it matches.” He seemed shocked by that.
“Really?”
“Yeah, my mom.” The man chuckled.
“How do you know?”
“I’ve been trying to find you for a long time dude. Beca Mitchell.” She stuck her hand out.
“Luca. Luca Kopp.”
“Beca?”
“Yeah mom?” she asked as she pushed her headphones down around her neck.
“You know Luca has a daughter your age?”
“No, don’t think you’ve mentioned that.” She spun her chair around to look at her mom. She was getting ready to leave for a lunch date with him. It was their fourth official date.
“Well, I know you’ve already met him, but I’ve never met his daughter. He’s bringing her to lunch today, and I thought maybe you’d like to meet her?” Beca’s brows furrowed. Technically, her mom and Luca are soulmates, meaning she would have to spend time with his daughter eventually. Beca sighed.
“Sure. But I can’t promise I’ll be any more social than I usually am.” Her mother chuckled.
“Didn’t expect you to, sweetie.” Beca got up and threw on a pair of skinny jeans, a Panic! At the Disco t-shirt, black Converse, and threw her hair in a ponytail. She left her headphones wrapped around her neck and left with her mom. It took them ten minutes to get to the restaurant they were meeting Luca and his daughter at. Beca and her mom walked in, and Luca called out to them.
“Rachel! Beca!” He stood to greet them, kissing her mother on the cheek and fist bumping Beca.
“It’s nice to see you again Beca.”
“You too Luca,” she said with her trademark smirk.
“My daughter went to the restroom, she should be back in a moment.” Beca took a seat in the booth, expecting her mom to sit with her, but her mother took the seat next to Luca instead. Beca was pulling her phone out of her pocket when she saw a beautiful blonde girl in the corner of her eye. She had long blonde hair pulled into a ponytail, and the most gorgeous blue eyes Beca has ever seen. She was wearing a Muse t-shirt, much to Beca’s liking, and jean shorts that went down to the knee. She came up to them and smiled at Beca as she took the seat next to her.
“Ah, there you are! Beca, Rachel, this is my daughter, Luisa.” Luisa shook Beca’s mother’s hand.
“It’s nice to meet you both, I am Luisa,” she said with a less pronounced German accent then her father, but she somehow made it 1000 times more beautiful. She gave Beca a toothy grin as she shook her hand, and Beca tried not to blush.
“You too. I’m Beca.”
They had been friends for four months now. Since their parents spent so much time together, it was only natural that they spent time together too, and Beca could admit to herself, and her mother, that she has a crush on her now best friend.
Luca had suggested a beach day, since the weather was supposed to be nice, and Beca was not happy. The beach was not her cup of tea. All it took was Luisa to look sad that she wasn’t going to go, and she’s almost positive that the toothy grin she got for agreeing to go would be enough to make up for the sunburn she’s sure to get. Beca had chosen a black bikini bottom and her favorite black and purple surf shirt, and off they went. Beca and her mom were going to meet Luca and Luisa there, and Beca was both looking forward to and dreading seeing Luisa in a swimsuit.
They arrived at the beach about 15 minutes later, and Beca sprayed her legs and arms with sunscreen. She knew she would burn through it, but she couldn’t complain if she didn’t put it on. After she was satisfied with her coverage, she followed her mom onto the beach. She had earbuds in, since she wasn’t risking her headphones, and a few different songs playing through that she thought were mix potential. She had just started to mix, but Luisa said the one she showed her was amazing, so she kept doing it.
When Beca spotted Luisa, the first thing she expected was to be hit by how gorgeous she was, because she is, but no. She was instead transfixed on something else entirely. Something that she refused to talk about with Luisa, or anybody in fact, those damn flowers. Adorning Luisa’s right shoulder were two intertwined red roses with thorny stems going downward in a jumble. Worriedly, Beca glanced at her mother, but she either didn’t notice, or didn’t bring it up.
“Luca! Luisa!” her mother greeted. Beca trudging behind her, glaring at the sun.
“There you are!” Luca said as he hugged Beca’s mom. Luisa had spun around and smiled when she saw Beca.
“There you are! Come, let’s go in the water.” Beca started to protest, but she was soon swooped up by her blonde friend and thrown over her shoulder.
“Ah! Luisa! Put me down!”
“Nein!” she laughed as Beca struggled. The more she struggled, the more Luisa laughed, which caused Beca to stop struggling and start laughing. When the water hit Luisa’s hip, she gingerly took Beca off her shoulder, holding her to her chest via her hips. Bella’s arms wound around Luisa’s neck to keep her afloat, even though Luisa was holding her above the water just fine. Luisa’s thumbs were drawing circles on Beca’s thighs, just below her bathing suit, and she shivered.
“Are you cold, tiny Maus?” Luisa asked with concern. Luisa had come up with the nickname for Beca when she learned of the brunette’s love of cheese. Beca had looked it up though, and learned that it’s a term of endearment in Germany. She loved the nickname profusely.
“Little bit,” she said as she moved impossibly closer to Luisa, her right hand softly tracing Luisa’s tattoo.
“It’s beautiful, isn’t it?” Beca picked her head up off of Lusia’s shoulder, where it had been resting, and met her eyes.
“Hm?”
“The flowers. They are roses.” Beca smiled softly.
“Yeah. Beautiful,” Beca said, referring to the woman with the tattoo, rather than the ink itself.
That day was the only time they talked about either of their tattoos until they were both 17.
The four of them had long since bought a new house and moved in together, Beca’s and Luisa’s rooms being across the hall from one another. They also shared a bathroom. Now, Beca knew that Luisa’s flowers matched hers, she just didn’t know what to do about it. She was terrified. She didn’t think she was good enough for her. She didn’t think she’d be a good partner. She didn’t think… and that’s what lead to her tripping and falling down the stairs, leading her to a broken arm and a sprained ankle. Which brings us to our current predicament.
“No.”
“Beca why? Would you prefer your mother do it?” Luisa asked, hurt and confusion lacing her tone.
“I’m fine! I can take my fucking bath by myself!” Beca was currently perched on the side of the tub in jeans that had one of the legs cut open and a t-shirt. Luisa was standing in front of her, arguing that she needed to help Beca bathe since she was hurt. Well, she wasn’t wrong. Beca has a casted left arm, which is her dominant hand, and her right ankle was sprained. She was technically immobile.
“No, you cannot. Why will you not just let me help you? Are you embarrassed?” Beca threw her good hand to her face in frustration.
“No. I’m not embarrassed. Jesus christ.” Luisa crossed her arms over her chest.
“Then explain it to me! I don’t understand why you won’t let me help! I just want to help you!”
“Because I’m terrified! Okay?!” Beca’s head dropped into her hand as she said it. She hated feeling vulnerable, and that was really the only word to describe what she was right now.
“Terrified? Of me?” Luisa whispered sadly.
“No, not… jesus Luisa. Not of you.”
“Then of what?” Beca sighed heavily. She slid the sling off and pulled her shirt up with her right arm. When it was off, she spun around to face the wall, showing Luisa her shoulder. Beca closed her eyes shut tight when Luisa gasped. Luisa took two steps to close the distance and ran her fingers gently over Beca’s tattoo, causing her to shiver.
“I… I do not understand. It is the same as…”
“Yours. I’m aware.”
“And you’ve known all this time? And you did not say anything to me?” Beca hung her head.
“I told you. I’m terrified,” she whispered vulnerably. A hand on her good shoulder spun her around so she was facing the blonde, who was smiling softly.
“There is nothing to be scared of Maus, it is just me. But this makes so much sense, does it not? You and I get along so well. We are meant to be, I do not understand your fears, Maus.” Beca sighed and dropped Luisa’s gaze.
“I just… I’m scared to lose you,” she mumbled. Luisa wrapped her arms around Beca tenderly, avoiding her left shoulder.
“You will not lose me Muas. You will have me forever. I have liked you since the day we met.”
“Yeah? Me too,” Beca said into Luisa’s shoulder. Luisa pulled back to look into Beca’s eyes and bit her lip. Beca’s eyes traveled down to her lips, then snapped back to her eyes. She saw Luisa’s eyes do the same, then she leaned forward slowly. Luisa met Beca half way, gently touching their lips together. Beca sighed into it. She had been wanting to do this for months, and now that it’s happening, she can’t describe it. It feels like she’s been doing it her whole life, but not nearly enough at the same time. It was warm, and happy, and so, so, right. Beca pulled back and watched Luisa’s eyes flutter open. She smiled shyly at the blonde, who beamed at her.
“So, I can help you then, ja?” She asked lightly, referring to the bath. Beca blushed and avoided her gaze.
“Uh, I mean, I…”
“If it would make you more comfortable we could… take one together?” Beca’s eyes snapped up to Luisa’s shy gaze. She had never seen Luisa so unsure of herself, but the offer was just so… innocent in it’s intent. Beca just nodded. Luisa smiled and stood up. She slowly pulled her shirt up, and Beca swallowed thickly. Luisa pulled her jean shorts off and tied her hair up, then looked at Beca. She moved toward her and slowly helped Beca out of her jeans and shirt. They were both now in their underwear, and stilled, just staring at each other. Luisa cupped Beca’s cheek and whispered reverently.
“Wunderschön…” Beca blushed and put her hand over Luisa’s.
“Sie sind auch,” she whispered, causing a blush to sprout on Luisa’s cheeks. Luisa turned the water on to fill the tub, then sat on the edge with Beca. She laced her fingers with Beca’s, it was her right hand, and squeezed gently. Beca ran her thumb over Luisa’s knuckles while they waited in comfortable silence. Luisa turned the faucet off and looked at Beca as she slowly unclipped her bra and slid it down her arms. Beca turned to the side and let Luisa take hers off for her. Luisa slid into the tub with her back to the end of it, and her legs open. Beca slid into them, and Luisa pulled her into her tightly. Beca rested her casted hand on the rim of the tub, and her good one on Luisa’s knee, drawing nonsensical patterns with her fingers. Luisa began humming, and Beca leaned back, resting her head on Luisa’s shoulder.
“I think the sun is shining just a little more bright
I think the stars might be hanging just a little more high
Come on love
A new day is calling and it feels so right
Do-do-do-do-do, do do do
Do you know what I wanna do
Do-do-do-do-do, do do do
It’s a beautiful day to fall for you”
When Luisa finished singing the verse softly, she kissed Beca’s shoulder, where her tattoo was, then continued singing. While Beca sat in Luisa’s embrace, listening to her sing, all she could think was, ‘Maybe those damn flowers aren’t so bad after all.’
Becommissar Holiday Exchange, Vampire AU 4 / 4: Twilight
Despite first day jitters, Beca had let Chloe drag her to the cafeteria after third period. With Chloe now occupied, chattering away with her friends, Beca’s attention drifted. Her eyes trailed over the other students in the cafeteria, halting on a girl by the windows whose flawless face was only dimmed by her sullen expression. Pointing the girl out to Chloe, Beca asked, “Who’s she?” Chloe turned to look, “That’s Luisa Krämer. She’s totally gorgeous, obviously, but apparently nobody here’s good enough for her. Like I care, you know? So yeah. Seriously, like, don’t waste your time.” Beca could only smile and reply, “I wasn’t planning on it.”
Becommissar AU: After Das Sound Machine’s victory dance at the riff-off, Kommissar made her way over to bar. As she waited for her drink, Kommissar turned to scan the faces already sitting there. Her eye caught on a familiar Bella slugging back beers. “Tiny Maus, is this how you accept defeat?” Beca continued to stare straight ahead, “This is how I try and forget we lost…as well your physically flawless self.” Kommissar paused at the comment, smile fading, “Why would you need to forget me?” “Because you are making me very sexually confused and that should not be intimidating.” Kommissar took the beer bottle from Beca’s hand, “Little Bella, I think you’ve had quite enough to drink. Why don’t we get you home?” With a laugh, Beca finally turned to look at her. “Why do you care?” “Maybe I prefer the Kicker of Ass to you being drunk.” At that, Beca allowed Kommissar to escort her outside, but not before snatching up a new drink. On the uneven pavement, Beca teetered in her heels towards her car. “You really shouldn’t be driving, Tiny Maus.” “What do you suggest I do then, you gorgeous specimen?” Kommissar leaned closer to Beca, “I do have something in mind.”
