21/05/21-Wet Friday: Swift and flowers at Lakeside and more
I took the first picture in this photoset of another view looking right out of the back today as I checked how much it was raining before my lunch time walk, today a dog walk for me too. We got to Lakeside and I took the second and third pictures in this photoset. I also took the fourth of some lovely bee nettle I noticed near to the ford area something I do really enjoy seeing and looking beautiful with the nice white something I have appreciated a lot this year on another great day for flowers with cowslips, green alkanet and pink and blue bluebells as well as some others seen on the lunch time walk which we completed in fairly constant rain and quite a gusty wind varying in intensity.
When I’d finished work I took a second walk in very much the same conditions, taking the fifth picture in this photoset of some vegetation in the front garden and sixth of bushes coming to life a key theme this week by the allotments before going into Lakeside. On a brief amble at the south of Lakeside, doing a pre-planned route through the eastern kissing gate and down to by the steam railway station then along the road bit to the south going along towards the visitor centre and back along the path as there yesterday in a bit of rain too I saw lots of ideas for photos along this bit but just had my big lens which I didn’t feel was quite right for them so I did take a few of these photos today. At Lakeside I took the seventh picture in this photoset of more lovely flowers some purple ones I tweeted a picture of some purple ones with the green alkanet nearer to the ford on the first walk today. These were lovely to take in and I took in more purple ones as well as forget-me-not and periwinkle in the big flower beds where I first noticed them earlier in the year which was nice, there were other great flowers here and I also took a macro picture of the crane’s-bills I noticed yesterday and captured with my big lens so I was pleased to do it again with my more flower specialist lens. I also managed the eighth picture in this photoset of a lovely yellow flower near to the visitor centre which I noticed on both walks today. I then couldn’t resist the ninth and the tenth of another adorable scene of Greylag Goose goslings hunkered down within the adult’s feathers like I got yesterday which looked really nice they have looked so great always on this extraordinary journey with them I’ve had so far this year but very nice in the rain whilst watching these a bigger group of goslings were being fed which was interesting to see and a nice moody view over beach lake.
On the way home within Lakeside still a bit further along I got one of my bird moments of the day when a delightful Swift glided peacefully and beautifully well over my head. Before a few photos from home this evening as I tweeted on Dans_Pictures as there was a little bit of brightness, a brilliant way to end another week with some brilliant wildlife moments locally. I hope you all have a nice weekend.
