Sorry for the weird question but you’re the only person I know who writes Korrasami - do you know any fics, one shots or otherwise, where Korra defends Asami/gets protective? I love that aspect of their relationship that gets portrayed in fanart but I’ve never found a fic on it (I am a newbie though) thank you so so much and I hope you have an absolutely fantastic day! PS I’ve nearly read all your fics - you’re a legend.

Thanks for reading my fics though! I wouldn’t call myself a legend, lol. There are some really amazing Korrasami writers out there and I’m honored to publish fics alongside them :D

So being protective is kind of a broad theme throughout Korrasami fics. The only thing is is that usually Asami isn’t written as the ‘damsel in destress’ too often because she is a very strong female character. So a lot of these fics also have Asami being protective of Korra. These are all mainly long and hefty fics, full of angst, fluff, action, and/or smut, literally anything you could imagine. I also tend to read fics that are mature or explicit rated, so that also limits my recommendations.

You have no idea how many I’ve read… so this is so hard! There are so many great fics out there and I wish I could extend the list to more than 5! (Listed in no particular order)

Ok but what game was it?

Old Koei game called Genghis Khan 2. Which I think I actually did beat one, but still...now I understand it.

Next up is Uncharted Waters 2, which I was never able to track down originally. Beating the first was the last thing I did on SNES.

About as lost as you’d be reading UE without watching Korra, but there is a wiki. And I took some liberties with characterization because the characterization of the leads in ME3 made me hit the ceiling. So um, up to you.

Endings are hard. But I think you know what the story is about - ‘about’ in that annoying English paper sort of way - and that will land you in the right place. But… I don’t want the spoilers!

One of the negative comments was incredibly thoughtful and questioned me on thematic grounds. Justice and mercy are such strong themes in the story. Shady Shin got of scot-free but so did Hiroshi’s murderer and the man who assaulted Asami. Basically, I picked one vis a vis Asami.

Heh. I think it's a popular what if - but not one that's tackled with a great deal of vigor or depth. It's intimidating. So... I think a lot of people have headcanons about it; but few have written on the subject.

Well considering how much of Asami’s backstory I had to change, I don’t blame them. I mean I’m not sure I *need* all the subplots but they did help.

I suppose I could have made Asami a daddy’s girl of a femme fatale who finds herself falling for Korra but...I’ve read that story. I’m tired of it. So principled non-racist Asami it had to be.

Bold, but frankly, you’re already so far down the story>shipping road that to deviate might even more daring. Amon’s tragic choice being his - and his romance’s - undoing is a better study in character and tragedy than the alternative.

And thematically appropriate since I’ve been driving the “Redemption is always an option, even if it’s not easy, but you have to choose it” angle pretty hard. If I didn’t extend it to Amon, I’d feel like a cheat.

I think I’m going to go for it--with a “please trust me” author’s note.

And some of the adults too ;)

But it’s nice. I have a reputation as a sadist, but I prefer to be nice at the end of the day. And now that I see how to get a happy, even redemptive ending, I’m going to take it. UE isn’t romance, but it’s not noir either. Love may not win on its own but it can win.

And it turns out asking a few questions of the scientifically literate helps too.
