The author that introduced me to A/B/O and inspired me to write my own is now writing it for Crit Role. Do you know how long I’ve been waiting for this???
If you don’t know who @raedmagdon is, for the love of everything holy, check out her tumblr and ao3. She also has her own stories and is a published author.
Just..read her stuff is what I’m saying. You won’t be disappointed.

[original author's summary]: Lexa has beheld many beautiful sights in her lifetime. She has watched the trees turn red and orange in autumn. She has watched golden sunlight dance atop the ocean at midday. She has looked up at the night sky and wondered at the stars, at the sheer vastness of it all – more often since Skaikru’s arrival.
None of those sights can compare to the beauty spread before her.

Hey mate, love your work! You are one of my favs along Rae! So.... could you maybe try to bring her to the sc fandom lol. The amount of content we would have from both of you would be amazing, a girl can dream!
I’ve tried! Believe me! Lol. @raedmagdon has actually beta’d some smutty Supercorp content for me in the past, but I’ve not pushed the matter with her. Rae is entitled to her own opinions on fandom and media, and she’s allowed to dislike SG. She’s not a fan of SG’s writing staff and their queer-baiting, and that’s fine—frankly, I can’t say I disagree. It’s pretty shit.
I, however, was raised on Joss Whedon and his -ahem-‘ideas’ of feminism, so the ‘monster-of-the-week-superheroine show-with-queer-coded-sexy-cis-villainesses’ is more nostalgic than problematic for me. I’m okay with the show being terrible and the producers going ‘no homo’ constantly because canon never matters much to me anyway, and I love a slow burn sexual chemistry—Katie McGrath is definitely giving that to us in spades. I also think other shows that Tumblr loves to drool over are definitely worse in terms of queer-baiting—Killing Eve comes to mind. KE is even more troubling for me than SG, because it employs the ‘psychotic lesbian trope’ freely and without regard, and it has the same SG problem of having everyone involved with the show deny the queer romance aspect. Riley J Dennis’s amazing video may help here. I’ve been asked to write for Killing Eve numerous times and I just...can’t.
So, with all that being said—if I just ignored my friend’s opinions and tried to convince her to shove SG down her throat, I’d be ignoring many of the very real problems with SG and the way they choose to portray their POC or LGBTQ+ cast. Rae’s a grown woman. She’s allowed to feel the way she feels. I would definitely LOVE to do an SG collab with her (honestly) but that’s her choice to make, not mine.
Still, we could always use more writers in this fandom, so hey anon, why don’t you try your hand at it? You never know, you may be really good. ♥️
“I just feel out of place in this time. I feel like the world is slowing to a crawl and doesn’t want to catch up with where, morally, I feel it should be. I definitely feel a sense of displacement, for sure. It’s like, are we still having these same arguments about whether we’re people? Can we please move on?”
Interview subject @raedmagdon in “Feeling Backward” - The Clexa Fan Documentary Trailer
By exploring how queer female fans experience time, my research challenges assumptions about how much society has progressed from the homophobia and oppression of the past.
As Carillo Rowe et al (2015) discuss, that while progress has been made for some members of the LGBTQ community (namely white, economically mobile gays and lesbians) others continue to be excluded and oppressed by systems of power such as race, gender and class. Rather than promising a future ‘hospitable to all’, the progress made in contemporary gay and lesbian politics merely promises that ‘it gets better for some’ (p. 36).
Popular cultural memory and history tells us that homophobia has been overcome and exists only in the past. But despite this apparent triumph and the increasing number of rights afforded to members of the queer community, these feelings of displacement persist. For Rae, these feelings point to a lack of progress and a continuation of the homophobia of the past.
So to ask questions of time, is to ask how queer people continue to feel out-of-sync with the heteronormative world around them, and how these feelings persist in our “liberated” present.

Sorry for the weird question but you’re the only person I know who writes Korrasami - do you know any fics, one shots or otherwise, where Korra defends Asami/gets protective? I love that aspect of their relationship that gets portrayed in fanart but I’ve never found a fic on it (I am a newbie though) thank you so so much and I hope you have an absolutely fantastic day! PS I’ve nearly read all your fics - you’re a legend.
Oh man, I gotta think about this. Also it’s not weird so no worries.
Thanks for reading my fics though! I wouldn’t call myself a legend, lol. There are some really amazing Korrasami writers out there and I’m honored to publish fics alongside them :D
So being protective is kind of a broad theme throughout Korrasami fics. The only thing is is that usually Asami isn’t written as the ‘damsel in destress’ too often because she is a very strong female character. So a lot of these fics also have Asami being protective of Korra. These are all mainly long and hefty fics, full of angst, fluff, action, and/or smut, literally anything you could imagine. I also tend to read fics that are mature or explicit rated, so that also limits my recommendations.
