April Beehive block

I just realised that I forgot to share the block I made for the April Queen Bee for my quilting bee.

Last month the Queen Bee Simone requested that bee member make the Fizzy block - a block composed of drunkard’s path units. Myself and several other bee members were slightly nervous about sewing the curves but I was pleasantly surprised to find that it wasn’t that hard.

If you’ve never given it a go I recommend watching this video. I found it super helpful and it helped my conquer my fear of curves!

March Beehive block

Just a quick post to share the block I made for the March Queen Bee of my Beehive swarm.

This month the Queen Bee Ellie-May chose the Wanta Fanta block, and requested teal/turquoise/aqua prints for the block sections with I part orange and black prints for the background. I went super scrappy and used a different print for each section:

I have to admit that this Wanta Fanta block made me wanta cider. All the bias edges, multiple points and bulky seams tested my skills, but I got there in the end and I love the finished look.

I can’t wait to see Ellie-May’s finished quilt. I think it will look spectacular!
