Total score!!!! Bag of random fabric from a work mate. You know what I mean when I say that, when you tell people you sew they either want to give you fabric or hem their trousers 😂😫. Sometimes you receive stuff you don't really want but you Smile and say thankyou anyway😉. Well, last night I received a big bag of unwanted fabric from someone at work who is having a clear out, and inside is some crap, obviously, but also some amazing wool and cashmere (about 2.5m) and some tana lawn type William Morris style (2m) fabric. Also some odds and ends of Laura Ashley curtain cut offs, and some red velvet!!!! Oops I've run out of white 😂! Quilt top almost finished. It was intense trying to get those points to match😳. Flying geese are not my go to pattern. That's why I #foundationpaperpieced All the triangles. I had to keep reminding myself to breathe whilst sewing 😂. Lots of ripping out and subtle repositioning, to get it as close to right as possible. Next, I'd better order some more fabric!! A little self drafted #SewYourStash project, inspired by a dress I saw a Macy's 14ish years ago, when I briefly worked there. This fun little colorful number is basically a modified pillowcase dress. I added a casing and some elastic at the waist for shaping and an exaggerated shirttail hem. Instead of using fabric or ribbon for the, I used a plastic chain (from AC Moore...so also a stash item), shown in slide 2. It's lined with a random linen-esque textured knit, that gives it just enough body that the dress isn't sticking to you. The back does have some hook & eyes, but it's just as easy to unclip the plastic chain (picture 3) *disclaimer: yes, there's still a Christmas wreath on that door.
