Name: Beehoss
Debut: Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story
Beehoss... part beehive, part boss... could this be it? The true King of the Bees? Maybe so! Regardless, it does seem to get a lot of buzz, and it’s easy to see why! What an interesting enemy!
Beehoss is a living beehive that attacks in exactly the ways you’d expect a beehive to attack. Spitting out honey, firing clouds of pollen, and you guessed it...
UNLEASHING THE BEES! Beehosses, as one of the few RPG enemies with multiple appearances, summons bees in ever-so-slightly different ways between Bowser’s Inside Story and Dream Team, but either way, when you fight a Beehoss? You’re fighting all the bees that come with it. In Bowser’s Inside Story, you can hide from the bees when you play as Bowser, but if you hide too early, the bees will notice and just wait for you to come out of your shell to sting. In Dream Team, they’ll show up with a group of nine bees, and once you defeat all the bees, the Beehoss will walk away, disappointed. Maybe it’s going off to find more bees?
As we can see in the pictures above, Beehoss comes with a very specific type of “bee,” but I can’t help but wonder if every bee enemy works with Beehoss? Could we see a Beehoss with a hoard of Stingbies? How about with Bībī? (which the wiki has discovered is apparently just named “bee” in English, ruining the joke I made on that post) Could we even see the Beehoss team up with the legendary Bzzap!?
I think this speculation has some weight to it, considering we see different Beehoss designs in Bowser’s Inside Story and Dream Team. At first I figured that this was just a redesign, but then the Bowser’s Inside Story remake came out, and went back to the original Beehoss!
And so my theory is that there are different species of Beehoss that are equipped for different types of Mario bees. In that case, I want to see more of Beehoss! I want to see different Beehosses for each Mario bee out there! I want Beehoss to be one of the few enemies that make the leap into the main series! Give us what the fans want, Nintendo! Give us Beehoss!
