Part 1 of Team for the bees.
SPN AU BINGO Round 2 Masterlist.
You’d been seeing the bees for a while, but given the garden you had in your back yard, you weren’t surprised. A flower box acted as a rail for your back porch. You had an apple and a peach tree, and along the back fence you grew various other vegetables. Corn, Tomatoes, peppers, potatoes, beans, green onions, cucumbers and carrots. So bugs out back, that was normal.
What wasn’t normal, was the buzzing sound that you kept hearing. At first, only when you stepped outside. Then suddenly you thought you were hearing them in your house, and you were. They kept flying in.
It took some investigating, but eventually, you figured it out. You found the hive they’d build themselves under your back porch. “Shit..” You dropped to sit on a patio chair. You thought about calling pest control, but they would just kill them, spraying pesticides or something all over the place, and you had animals, you had a kid.
So instead, you called the one person you could think of that would cared about the bee’s and might help.
“Humble Bee-ginnings. How can I help you?”
“Hi..” You breathed out. “Sorry, this might be weird, but I wasn’t sure who else to call, and you probably don’t even remember me because I’ve only seen you once, but you gave me your card in case I had questions..” you chewed on your bottom lip.
“What can I do for you?”
“So.. There seems to be a hive in my backyard, and I’m pretty sure calling the pest guy might be a bad idea..”
“Yeah.”
“I was kinda of hoping you might know who to call.”
“No need to call anyone-”
“No, you don’t understand, there’s a lot of bees. And I have a kid with a fascination for bugs, which will probably lead to a lot of stings, and this is really not how I want to find out if she has an allergy..”
He chuckled. “No, no, I mean, you already knew who to call. I can come by and check it out when I close up today. You don’t mind waiting a few hours, do you?”
“No, no it’s okay. Uhm. That’s perfect, really. Thank you.”
“Relax, give me your address, and I’ll be there as soon as I can.”
“Are you the bug guy?”
“Beekeeper, yes. Is your mom here?” He glanced past her and into the house.
“Yep. Mommy is out back moving some of the flower pots away. Do you just work with bee’s?”
“Yes.”
“Do you not like other bugs?”
“I like them fine.”
“Then why only bees?”
“I like honey.”
“I like honey too!” she grinned. “Mom bought this really good honey last time, it came in a cute little jar with a ribbon, and-”
“That’s the honey my bees made. Maybe you should tell your mom I’m here.”
“Oh, you can come to the back, it’s okay.” He was unsure, but she waited for him to step inside, and then closed the front door behind him. “My name is Joy, what’s yours?” She asked as she lead him through the house.
“Castiel.”
“That’s an interesting name.” She scrunched her face at him. “What does it mean?”
“It means shield of god.”
“Oh..” She opened the back door, and Castiel’s arm went out over her head and held the door open for her as she went ahead of him. “Thank you, Castiel. I still think it’s a weird name.”
“Joy!” You scolded her. “And why are you letting strangers into the house!”
“He said he was the bug guy.” She shrugged.
“Beekeeper.” He corrected her once more. “Castiel.” he extended his hand with a smile.
“I’m so sorry about her..” You gave him an apologetic look as you shook his hand.
“Don’t be, she was well named. An absolute joy.”
“His name means shield of god.” Joy stated proudly. “Whatever that means.”
Castiel chuckled. “Where is the hive?”
“You’re standing on it. I think.” You motioned for him to follow you down.
“Oh..” He moved carefully to the stairs and down, once his feet hit grass he crouched down. “Oh yeah.. That’s going to be some work.. You didn’t notice it before?” He looked up at you.
You gave your head a shake. “I’m use to seeing bees out here. We garden, so between the flowers, and the vegetables and fruit.. Some buzzing is normal.. But I realized the sound seemed never ending, and there was more than usual.. Please tell me you can do this.”
He looked under again. “Do you have somewhere you can stay this weekend?” He looked back. “I’ve got a friend who can help me out, but it’s still a big job.”
“Uh, yeah.. Yeah we can stay at my mothers. She lives just a few streets over.”
“I don't want to go to grandmas! I wanna watch the bug man!”
“Beekeeper, Joy.” You corrected her and she pouted.
“I’m sorry, but this could be dangerous work.” Cas told the little girl as he stood again. “I don’t have any of the proper equipment in your size, so you could get hurt. But how about, after all this is done, next time your mom wants to buy some of my honey, you can come to my apiary.” She gave him a confused look at the word. “Bee yard.”
“Can we!? Please mom? Can we go to the bee farm?” She puffed out her bottom lip.
“We’ll see, okay?”
“Fiiinnnnne.”
You shook your head and turned to the man who gave her a smile. “I can be back with everything tomorrow morning. Would that be okay?”
“Thank you, Castiel.”
“Please. Call me Cas.”
Sunday, you got the call that they were done, so you and Joy headed back home. There was a strange man you’d never seen before parked in your drive and loading up a pick up. Joy rushed over to him and tugged on his shirt, prompting him to look down. “Are you a bug guy, too?”
He chuckled. “You must be Joy, Cas told me about you. No, I’m not a ‘bug guy’.”
“Than who are you?” You asked and cautiously stepped closer to your daughter, hand going to her shoulder.
“I’m Sam.” You gave him a confused look. “Cas did not tell you I’d be here, did he?” He sighed and shook his head. “I’m a friend of Cas’s. I’m a farmer.”
“Oh?”
“He was the guy I called to help me safely move your hive.” You turned and Cas moved through the side gate, pulling off his gloves and another man came out behind him with power tools. “This is his brother Dean. Needed him to take apart and rebuild your back porch. It was a pretty sizable hive.”
“Dean Winchester.” He tucked a power tool under his arm and extended his hand.
“I've seen your picture!” Joy grinned and took his hand before you could. “Your the construction guy!”
He smiled. “Ah, so I really have you to thank for me getting the call, huh.” He gave her a wink as she shook his hand.
“So.. it’s gone?” You looked around, trying to spot some evidence of the hive.
“Got it out yesterday.” Your eyebrows shot up at that. “Had a little something I wanted to do before you guys got back.”
“We made you a surprise.” Dean offered Joy his elbow. “Wanna see?”
“Yes!”
Dean led Joy around back while you followed with Castiel, and Sam took up the rear. You smiled as she happily skipped along ahead of you, looking up at Dean and asking him a million and one questions about construction. You shook your head, and Cas laughed as Dean did his best to answer questions as quick as she asked them. But then she stopped. “What is that!? She gasped.
Between your flowered porch, and your vegetable garden stood a 5 foot tall and 3 foot wide wooden structure that seemed to be broken up into sections and had various items in each section. “What is that?” You asked Castiel, confused. It hadn’t been there before.
“Sam and Dean helped me build you a bug motel.” Cas told her and her whole face lit up. “Each section is a habitat for a different local bug. Some have even already moved in, see?” He pointed to one that had a chrysalis. “Soon, that will open up and be a butterfly. Sam brought it from his farm for you. And up there.” He pointed to another section. “Is where bee’s might move in. There’s still some flying around here, so maybe one will move in soon.”
“I knew you were the bug guys!” Dean laughed as she wrapped her arms around his hip and hugged him, a moment later, she was letting him go to hug Sam, then Cas.
“Thank you.”
Cas smiled and gave her head a pat. “Anytime she wants to see the bee’s just call.”
“Now!?” She looked up at him with so much excitement. “Can we go right now!?”

Summary: A series of ficlets taking place in the universe spawned by this tumblr post:
"Whelp I’m stuck imagining an AU where Cain is Cas’ dad and together they raise bees and make honey and wax candles in the middle of nowhere, Kansas - and Cain is totally onto that young hooligan who just moved here for some reason with his black monstrosity of a car and his leather jacket and who has the gall of making Cain’s boy smile, honestly, what the Hell, you better watch your back, boy, I’m watching you *squints*"
Not in chronological order.
Comments: 8/10. 50 chapters of pure fluff. Not much plot and no smut, just sweet domestic fluff. Perfect for a pick-me-up after a particularly angsty fic. I feel that it is a little too long to read in one go though, the unending domestic fluff can get a little repetitive, so I recommend taking a break once in a while.
Summary: It’s not like Dean goes on Grindr very often, just when he’s bored and alone. The blue-eyed guy's profile reads "Beekeeper, 29, 5'10, Single, I watch the bees." Dean is intrigued. He has to send a message.
Some Like It Hot
Summary: Castiel and Dean take their physical relationship to the next level and end up in the hospital as a result. Continuation of "Support Your Local Gay Beekeeper," but can be read as a standalone.
Dive In Like Honeybees
Summary: Castiel decides to take Dean to see where he works. Dean decides he'd rather have a little fun with Cas. But nothing ever goes as planned for these two...
Comments: 10/10 all three of them are adorable and hilarious and I love Sam and Gabe being done with their bullshit. SPOILERS: the second one features a lube mixup, the third one involves trespassing on a private property.
ever since I read “the knights and their bees” by Niitza I’ve been an overall happier person 😌🐝 highly recommend, I don’t know what I did to deserve to read such a beautiful thing.
