i know this is gonna sound fake but whatever
so my church does this thing where every week we ask “how is it with your soul?” and anyone who wants to share talks about how they’re doing spiritually/emotionally/mentally at the moment
and obviously the events of the past fucking week were WILD - like i was so busy listing things that i didn’t even mention Alex Trebek’s passing, and i didn’t realize that until I closed Zoom
so like. i start explaining how insane this week has been - the neverending election, the surprising blue states, my relief that trump is gone vs concern that people won’t hold biden accountable for his actions just because he’s a democrat. and then. i try to explain DestielPutinElection night.
i start off with “so there’s this show that i was super obsessed with when i was like, 13 or 14 called supernatural” and i see on the screen that one of exactly two (2) women in their 20s that are in attendence besides me is nodding. she says she watched it last night. so i’m like, oh, ok, she knows where this is going.
so i explain that fans have been pushing for queer representation (this is a very leftist church, i should clarify, and three of us are openly queer - the church only has like 15 people) and the writers have kinda viewed it as a joke for over a decade, and on thursday, after i hadn’t watched the show in six years,
“the angel character finally confessed that he was in love with the human character that people wanted him to be with --”
and i stop bc the girl from earlier GASPS AUDIBLY and puts her hand over her mouth and i’m like WAIT YOU DIDN’T SEE THE EPISODE?? and she goes NO and i go I’M SO SORRY and everyone’s laughing and she goes “no it’s okay i’m only a few episodes behind!” and i’m like “I’M STILL SO SORRY also you might want to like. not listen bc there will be more spoilers”
i keep going. i assume she muted her computer. i explain that he went to super mega turbo hell for being in love with a man. i see her gasp and cover her mouth again and i go WAIT YOU’RE STILL LISTENING and she’s like YEAH
so.
after this experience i’m starting to wonder about the authenticity of some of the more......unrealistic classic text posts this website is so famous for because what the FUCK (also i’m so sorry girl)
