“City Beer Parlor Violates Segregation Law, Padlocked,” Vancouver Province. May 20, 1942. Page 1. ---- License of the Grand Union Hotel beer parlor. 74 West Hastings, has been suspended for an indefinite period because it failed to segregate women with escorts from in drinking in the parlor. 

W. F. Kennedy, chairman of the Liquor Control Board, recently circularized beer parlor owners with a warning that these groups must be segregated. 

This month he issued a special request to beer parlors that "as soon as possible" they should erect partitions to separate women with escorts from the men's section.

The head of operations, Security Unit of the University of Lagos, Sunday Adejumo, was killed on Friday August 29th by suspected assassins at a beer parlor on Oyenuga street, behind St Finbarrs str., Akoka, Lagos.
