Because I’m bored and there’s barely any fanfics right now (I think I read all of them), here are some of my head canons about Beete and Wiress!
Youngest of 3. Two older brothers, both peacekeepers. Worth is ten years older than her, Wave is seven years older than Wiress. They were 26 and 23 at the time of her games.
Middle name is Hedy, after Hedy Lamarr. Austrian-American actress and inventor who helped create a radio guidance system in WW II.
Her father, Walden Volta, was peacekeeper. A strict man who rarely showed affection. Which led Wiress to see Worth as a father figure.
Her mother, Darcy Volta (née Montrose), was a robotics engineer. She died in a car crash 3 years before Wiress was reaped.
While her brothers spent their childhood sparring or doing sports adjacent activities, Wiress would read books or tinker with stuff in her room.
After Darcy died Walden became more cold and distant, he reminded Wiress that if she was ever reaped she was going to die because she was ‘weak’ and being a ‘know it all’ wouldn’t save her. Something he already did during her childhood because he couldn’t accept he had a ‘weak’ child.
She was a surprise, Darcy and Walden thought they were done after Wave, her father didn’t take it so well, hence his coldness towards her.
Born and raised in Evolvere, wealthy side of Three.
Middle name is Maxwell, he doesn’t like it much because he thinks it’s a little posh.
A younger brother, Lark. Died in an electrical accident trying to make a project for a scholarship to The Antenna, a school for gifted children. Lark was 14, Beete was 16.
After his brother’s death, Beete was determined to understand more of electrical engineering, ultimately helping him win his games and kill six other tributes.
His father, Lukas Latier, was a mechanic. He loved to bring Beete and Lark to his auto repair shop and let his boys help him.
His mother, Claire Latier (neé Bones) was a glassblower who worked in a factory.
He wanted to go to The Antenna but after Lark died he couldn’t bear the thought of being accepted without his little brother.
Claire passed during Beete’s games, a lung infection caused by the factory she worked at.
Lukas became more depressed after her passing, only to commit once he knew his boy was safe and was coming back home.
Beete found a hand forged lily made from metal, his mother’s favorite flower, and a letter with his father’s handwriting next to the window when he came home.
Born and raised in Malware (Wareville or The Electron to people from Evolvere), the side of 3 where most of the lower class lives.
