Extremely unpopular opinion:
I think the push from fandoms to get your fave to the top of the charts/ win fan voted polls is quite unhealthy. It creates a precedent that to be good fans you’re expected to spend all your money on buying and gifting singles, that you should only be streaming your fave’s song 24/7, that you have to spend all your time voting for them. And for some god forsaken reason, if you don’t, then you’ve let your fave down and you’re a horrible fan.
Just... no.
You should listen to what music you like. You don’t have to spend hours streaming one song just so it can move up in the charts. You should spend your time the way you want. You don’t have to keep clicking refresh on a page to up the views or ensure your fave wins some random poll that no one really sees/ cares about. And above all, you should spend your money on things that are important to you. You don’t have to buy 10 copies of the same song in hopes that the song moves us the charts.
Obviously, if you want to devote your time to ensuring better chart placement/ better promo for your fave - all the power to you. You keep doing that. But if you feel like it’s an obligation to be doing all of the above so that your fave succeeds, if its impeding any other aspect of your life, if you’re finding that you’re judging others for not putting in as much ‘effort’ as you - that’s wrong. There is no formula to being a good fan. Your experience is what you choose it to be and don’t let the mentality in the fandom change what you would like or need to do.
Honestly I'm still Jonas Brothers af those my homeboys
