If you could count how many times you were so overwhelmed by a project that you couldn’t figure out where to start, how many do you think it would be? It probably feels like thousands, at least. What if starting—doing anything at all—was more important than where you started? What if it didn’t have to be linear, if you could fiddle with a bit here, a spot there, this little piece over here, and that was good enough? Because, well...it IS good enough. We get SO hung up on doing it “right” sometimes that we forget that doing something beats doing nothing at all. It doesn’t matter what the something is. All that matters is that you’re doing it. You’re in the project, mentally, physically, or both. Action begets action, even if it’s not the way you thought it had to go. It might even be better to start somewhere random, since it’ll give you a perspective you wouldn’t have otherwise. Start something today. Start it anywhere. Don’t worry about the rest. Five minutes is plenty, and more is fine, too. Just begin.
