Imagine being in love with your best friend, Mitchell (Being Human)
It was dark in the living room of the flat that Mitchell shared with George. The only thing giving light was the TV in front of you and Mitchell, and even then it felt more like mood lighting. You two had been watching movies for most of the night, an empty pizza box, a bowl of popcorn, and a couple of candies spread out across the coffee table.
At some point you had fallen asleep on Mitchell’s shoulder for just a moment. You had woken up once more when you felt him shift under you, as if trying to get you both comfortable on the couch. A soft breath escaped your lips as you gently lifted your head, your eyes meeting his.
“I fell asleep.” You had spoken to yourself, more as a realization than as a matter-of-fact statement towards the man so close to you.
“Yeah. Sorry for waking you.” He gave an appreciative smile, shifting a bit more.
You found yourselves closer than you were before. Your heartbeat quickened by the short distance. You and Mitchell were great friends, almost knowing everything about one another. But recently you two have been more than just flirty towards each other. The thought of you and Mitchell being much more than friends was very appealing to you. And you would definitely pursue it, if you weren’t so damn scared to take that step.
“I um, I should get going, instead of using you as a pillow.”
“I didn’t mind.” Mitchell simply said.
Then his hand came up to gently rest on bottom of your cheek. Your eyes flickered to his lips, then back up his irresistible brown eyes. His eyes seemed to search yours for some approval, some look that you had wanted his lips on yours. Mitchell couldn’t know for sure.
He leaned in, his lips just barely brushing against yours. Both of you looking through lidded eyes. The warmth of his breath made chills go down your spine in anticipation. God, you just needed to take that next step. You closed the distance between the two of you, pressing your lips with his. It was slow, gentle, but passionate.
Neither one of you pulled away until you ran out of breath, a shared laugh to break the silence of the room. Both of you thinking that the kiss was so long overdue. A goodnight kiss, to start something new.
