a starter for @bejunhee ( green thumb )

yuji's always wanted a cat, ever since she was a little kid. though there's never been a right time for it. her parents didn't like any animals in their home, and yuji's never had the time, money or dedication to take care of a pet on her own.

plants though? they're manageable. it's caretaking in a different way than housing a pet makes her feel-- but it gives her the same sense of satisfaction regardless. yuji just...she's not the greatest at it, and she feels terrible when a plant begins to wilt or die. watering everyday sometimes slips her mind, sometimes she over waters or she puts them in a place full of sun that doesn't need that much sun.

it's a learning process. one she's learning to stick with and just...do it. read up on it, buy new things and try them out. if she fails, then she tries again. yuji lifts her eyes from her phone screen, a list of recommendations staring back at her, the soil options vast. the only issue is that yuji feels like there's...just small differences, and no matter how many times she reads discussion posts about it, there's no real answer to what's the right one.

a science that she can't quite wrap her mind around. it's what gives her that bout of courage to clear her mind and approach another person in the aisle. certainly the man has to know something about gardening if he's perusing the options, right?

"ah, excuse me," yuji speaks up, offering a polite smile to him. "have you used these before?" she gestures to the variety of different soils to choose from. "i'm having a hard time deciding. i heard you even mix and match sometimes...?"

while the whole odd way jueun ended up befriending junhee started from him sharing the same name as her brother but has ended up with her hanging out with him sans the blood-related junhee. it's also why she's opted out of going christmas gift shopping with her actual brother and doing it with junhee instead, seeing that he seems to offer better advice anyway.

"do you think this necklace and earring set is worth it?" picking up the piece she had eyed, jueun showed junhee the piece. it was a silver necklace with a butterfly pendant and matching earrings. she had a pair that was similar enough, but it was starting to get old, and she felt like she needed a new one.

with a hum, she raised it up to her ear to see how it'd look. "or should i go with something more simple? you know, something that won't go out of style." there were a few other more handmade items at the stall. instead of shopping for others, she was a little more focused shopping for herself, but that was all part of the holiday spirit, right?
