How can we as a society continue to allow the killing of over 9 billion innocent chickens like Bertie every year for their flesh?
How can such violence ever be morally permissible?
Are we not better than this?
Commodification of someone is exploitative. Shelby’s worth cannot be conveyed in the price per pound of her flesh. Her being and desire to live can never be encapsulated in, nor respected through, a dollar sign.
Before this dust bathing beauty, Shamrock, was rescued from an egg farm, she was exploited for her reproductive system’s production of eggs. Shamrock now enjoys the peacefulness of her liberated life at our sanctuary. Every living being has the right to simply be.
Viewing the world and all of its inhabitants through a self-interested lens causes us to lose sight of our humanity and inflict thoughtless harm on other living beings, the planet, and each other. Learn to respect and live in harmony with all other earthlings.
Not visible: Butterscotch’s rapidly wagging tail as animal care intern Melina scratched that perfect spot.
Grateful that Cypress (right) and Oak (left) will never be killed now that they are safe at our sanctuary. All animals want to live, and it is not our right to inflict suffering, harm, violence, and death upon such defenseless, sentient beings.
Peace for P Bob
Panda Bob, or P Bob for short, is one of the most affectionate rescued bovines at our sanctuary. It’s astounding -- horrifying -- how much violence is required to kill someone like P Bob. Practice nonviolence and go vegan.
