What is more terrible than war? Are there things more idiotic and criminal? How can one remain indifferent before such a monstrosity? What can be done about this scourge of humanity, which is perfecting itself day by day in the atrocious art of killing? These are questions that many human beings asks themselves, at least those of us whose brains are still capable of working. The artist can - unfortunately - do nothing but witness, tell or draw what he heard or saw. It is not ultimately a work for peace to show the horrors of war
