Allagash Brewing - Saison
Since moving back to Charleston, my wife and I regularly miss the Northeast. We were married in Maine, so we've spent quite a bit of time in that area, and we definitely miss that part of the country come summertime. Since we can't just hop in the car and drive up for the weekend, I have to get my fix somehow. This is where Allagash fits the bill nicely.
I've talked about Allagash before on the blog, but frankly I can't say enough great things about them. They focus exclusively on Belgian-style offerings, and their Allagash White remains one of my all-time favorites. Their Saison is one of their newest offerings, and it's certainly a style I've had from time to time, but it's not one that I regularly seek out.
After finally trying this one out, I may need to seek out a few more Saisons! Allagash's Saison is a great blend of tropical/citrus flavors with a serious pepper finish that leaves a nice bite. It certainly has some earthy qualities as well that lend themselves to this farmhouse style beer. As always, Allagash remains one of my favorite breweries out there, and they continue to produce outstanding offerings that you really should check out. Cheers!
