Bellarke headcanon: Bellamy finds out about the echo/ Clarke situation, (or) he and Clarke finally address Clarke's years alone? Whichever one, thanks :)
“the rover’s still in good shape i see”
clarke informs bellamy that she was lucky to find the rover
it took two days to dig it out of the sand but
without it she would have died in the desert, alone
it also held a piece of crap radio that kept clarke sane for years
but bellamy doesn’t need to know that
she wants him to enjoy life with his family, not feel guilty for things that happened to her years ago
clarke is given no choice but to tell him when madi brings it up a few days later
she says that clarke was in bad shape when she made it to the valley. they didn’t make it back to dig up the rover (again) until clarke’s leg had healed
madi admits that was her fault. clarke fell into a trap for the flamekeeper
later that night bellamy asks clarke what things were really like
clarke can’t look at him so she turns away and begins to explain
“after a couple of months, i was able to leave becca’s lab and i eventually found the rover. i went back to polis to see if i could get in the bunker, but it was buried as you now know”
clarke’s eyes are squeezed shut like she doesn’t want to remember what comes next
“i tried to dig them out but i couldn’t do it. that was the first time i truly felt alone”
a hand rests on her shoulder and it reminds clarke of a similar comfort she felt six years ago after she had to make an impossible list
he deserves to know, she decides
“after that i didn’t know where to go. i started sending radio signals, first to the bunker, then to the ring. i wanted to know if anyone could hear me”
at this point bellamy can’t hold it together anymore
clarke was so alone for so long and now she’s telling him that she tried to talk to them, to him
but they all thought she was dead
he cries silently for the years they lost
“anyway, being alone was hard but radioing you gave me a routine to follow. it got me through the months before i met madi, so thank you for that”
she turns around and looks at him, finally
“i never gave up hope, you know? that you could hear me and that you were coming back.”
bellamy wraps clarke in his arms and, if he’s honest, never wants to let go
he won’t let her be alone like that ever again
“i don’t blame you for leaving me behind. it had to be done”
bellamy touches both hands to the sides of her face. he wants clarke to hear this
“i’m with you, clarke. we’re together again”
