BellCAF Exhibitor Spotlight: Noel Franklin
Noel Franklin is a comics creator currently living in Seattle, though she earned a degree in fine arts printmaking from Western Washington University, here in Bellingham.
Noel’s work is primarily autobiographical stories, with some art and rock journalism thrown into the mix. Her latest comic, Gone Girl Comics #2, includes a story about when she was one of the few women working at the Fairhaven Shipyards.
In addition to self publishing, Noel is a regular contributor to inktart.org and has been published in The Stranger as well as numerous international publications.
BellCAF Exhibitor Spotlight: Joe Garber
Joe Garber is a freelance animator and self published comic artist. He has been working on comics for about four years and has self-published numerous titles. Joe is also a contributor to Seattle’s Intruder newspaper!
BellCAF Exhibitor Spotlight: Aidan Fitzgerald
Aidan has been making comics for three years, including with Seattle’s Intruder collective. He makes comics and art zines on his Risograph, and has recently become obsessed with the more technical aspects of printing and book making.
BellCAF Exhibitor Spotlight: Hannah Mizar
Hannah moved to Portland two years ago and graduated from the Comic Certificate Program at The Independent Publishing Resource Center. Since graduating the course she has been very involved in Portland’s comics community and has self published her work in comics and zines. Hannah’s work is autobiographical in nature, with some fantasy or sci-fi elements.

Around Town - BELLINGHAM COMIC ARTS FESTIVAL By Amy Kepferle · Wednesday, March 11, 2015 Cullen Beckhorn is a busy guy. In addition to founding and maintaining the Bellingham Alternative Library—a volunteer-run lending library in the downtown core focused on unconventional literature and graphic novels—he also publishes and distributes a variety of comics via Neoglyphic Media. On top of these not-insubstantial duties, Beckhorn and his publishing company are also behind this weekend’s inaugural Bellingham Comic Arts Festival (BellCAF), a one-day event highlighting and celebrating an array of cartoonists, illustrators and printmakers from both near and far.

BellCAF Exhibitor Spotlight: Mita Mahato
Mita has been making and self-publishing comics for over five years, primarily using cut paper and collage technique as the basis of her image making. She has self-published over ten mini-comics and shown her work at festivals including Olympia Comics Festival, Stumptown, CAKE, and Short Run, for which she is now on the board of directors.
She is currently working on her first long-form comics narrative, which she plans to complete this summer!
BellCAF Exhibitor Spotlight: Northwest Press
Northwest Press, founded in 2010 in Seattle, publishes comics featuring a wide range of LGBT characters, in drama, humor, nonfiction, erotica, and adventure.
The anthology QU33R, edited by Rob Kirby, is a forward-thinking assessment of the world of non-heteronormative comics. It received the 2014 Ignatz Award for best anthology.
