I saw this post on Casuadisneyprincess and it reminded me of Backwards! Belle: Don't correct me! Elsa: Don't be wrong Is it something that could have happened? Or Belle wasn't that snappy? And/or Elsa was too docile to be witty with her? Love your story so much! Read last chapter last week and can't wait for more
Oh! Interesting. I love sassy Elsa. But younger Elsa definitely would have been too docile back then, more passive of problems, not wanting to 'rock the boat' of their relationship. I'd prolly have seen their interaction (like on an Erg) be more like:
"You're doing it again," said the brunette while sighing, finger pressed to her temple as a hint of annoyance tinged her words. "You're dropping your hands at the catch. Keep them straighter."
Elsa frowned, muscles aching as she stilled her movements on the machine. They're been at this for nearly 3 hours and she felt absolutely drained. "I'm just getting tired, that's the only reason." She raised her eyes to the Senior, managing to keep her voice level. "I never do, otherwise."
The Captain snapped her head down to the young rower, dark eyes stern as she squared her stance. "Fatigue is an excuse for a novice. Not someone aiming for Nationals."
Blue eyes fell back to her resting hands. "Again: It's not an excuse. It's a reason," she said right after, not thinking about how she automatically stated the very important semantic distinction. She just couldn't help herself.
Her girlfriend just rolled her eyes, letting the subconscious correction go; she had known the Sophomore's quirk for a long while now, but sometimes it was just too insufferable to address and way easier to ignore. Belle moved and tapped the monitor on the Erg, gaining the blonde's attention again. When the weary face landed on her, she gave a half smile.
"One last piece. 1000 meters. Focus on the hand positioning." She stepped to Elsa's side, gently guiding the Erg handle back into pale hands. "And there's nothing to correct; fatigue is neither an excuse, nor a reason, when we're talking about a champion in the making."
Any how, I like how you're thinking because Elsa needs to stand up for herself with other people in her life. Maybe she'll get that chance to redeem herself.. Who knows 🤭 thank you for reading! Next chapter is almost done, trying to churn it out soonish.
