6) Most compelling dynamic (outside of the brothers)?

i agonized over this for so long. let me first say the obvious samruby or sastiel of it all. apart from that i tend to find the antagonistic relationships the most interesting bc of what they bring out in the main characters - like gordon walker with sam and dean was soo interesting to me in a rage-inducing way. or pellegrino's lucifer when he's trying to tempt sam for example.

but i gotta say john and sam. part of this is b/c i'm rewatching s2 so this is where my head is at but also; jdm is a good actor & i love when sam gets angry and starts yelling. they have some unintentionally hilarious scenes (e.g. possessed!john telling sam to shoot him and sam cocks his gun IMMEDIATELY). but mainly i think they're so compelling bc they have such a shitty relationship. they love each other but it actually makes things harder b/c neither of them like each other that much. i think a lot of supernatural is about how loving someone deranges you and with sam and john this is so true.

sam resents being controlled by john (as he should!) and you can see as SOON as john shows up how sam changes. it's like it throws him back into the trapped, angry, hurting teenager he was before he left for college. and it brings out something reckless, almost, in him? i'm thinking of when dean gets between them right after john grabs sam by the collar in s1 and you can seeeee sam knows right before that happens that he's goading john. he almost looks pleased by it and it told me so much about sam's childhood and how he views that relationship - how john acting out and going to shove him feels vindicating to him, how he might seek that out. i'm stopping myself now.

and john can't be around sam without wanting to squash him. it's only when john dies that sam can actually start to like, feel positively about him in a way that he couldn't when john was alive. john is the prototypical figure of everyone who tries to control sam as the show goes on and his treatment of sam is why i think sam is so vulnerable to manipulation by those he loves. sam literally spent his entire life as the less-valued, scapegoat, second-class citizen in at least one of his most formative relationships. its fucked up. its fascinating. bite him sammy. KILL him.

17) Favorite villain?

i have a huge bias towards the demons in general b/c i think they're fun (even though i'm disappointed with how? normal? they are. how come they all look like regular guys. i think angels and demons should be more obviously otherworldly than they are but this is a whole other essay lmfao). lucifer is an interesting villain but tbh in terms of moving the plot forward the villain of the apocalypse arc is really more the angels than lucifer, who's just chilling in sam's dreams half the time. but he's most interesting to me as a character when he's doing the dream-temptation thing with nick and sam, not when he's actually in sam or coming back later - i think my interest in him is chiefly as a cunning adversary, and so anything beyond that part of the plot is just boring to me. but i would say...FAVOURITE villain....Azazel. i wish he had been more weird and magical but the actor who plays him does an amazing job and the whole first few seasons rely on him as a terrifying shadowy villain and he delivers! come on! the special children! the showdown at cold oak! the possessing john! the style and panache he had! the way that he made sam's life a living hell! the fact that sam was his favourite! he was so horrible it was awesome.

the dark crystal, 100%!! found it on netflix around 10 years ago after only remembering a shot of landscape and the skeksis banquet from seeing it very young, and now it's my favourite forever and ever! everything is puppets... so so cool!!

25. my idea of a perfect date

hmmmm... yknow I've never really thought of this! buuut after some serious thinking, my answer is picnic in a graveyard! juice in fancy glasses, cubed fruit, little sandwiches,,, and it'd be on a pleasant day, not too hot or too windy, with a parasol so after we finish eating we can sprawl out without worrying about the sun. and bc it's only a daydream I don't need to think about bugs getting caught in my hair

Back in my school days, fellow students used to call me a crow or raven because I was always picking up pretty rocks, buttons, beads, jewelry, etc. Did you ever get called an animal by peers? Why?

Mmm not quite the same thing but my best friend and I have been friends since band camp 9th grade year. She’s my Tomato Overlord and I am her Supreme PotatoCat. So. There’s that.

I never really got animal nicknames or labels. But I am a redhead so i got called “Wendy” a lot in middle school!

What is your most recent favorite show/movie/book? What is your most recent favorite treat for yourself?

Show: mmmm i started rewatching House MD and Psych for the first time since I was itty bitty so. Probably those?

Movie: Wicked or the Barbie Movie. (All time favorites though are: Remember the Titans, Miss Congeniality, and Legally Blonde; not necessarily in any particular order).

Book: I’ve mainly been reading fanfic because i don’t have much time for reading a whole new book but I listen to the Michael Crouch recording of Simon vs the Homosapiens Agenda every so often because he has the perfect voice for that book.

Treat: medium Dunkin Caramel Craze latte with oatmilk and 2 pumps of liquid cane sugar and a headlight donut (chocolate covered vanilla cream filled yumminess). I work like 5 minutes from a Dunkin so on the miraculous days i leave extra early, that’s the treat i get myself
