It's funny how many costumers choose to set Jane Austen adaptations in slightly different periods because they don't like Regency styles. I do like that style, but I also am fine with this slightly earlier setting. I'm puzzled about the hair ribbon, though--it doesn't seem to serve any practical function in restraining her hair, and there are much easier ways of just displaying the ribbon.

This costume was first used in the 2014 film Beloved Sisters:

...but I think I like it better with the black trim. That tiny extra bit of focus at the neck and elbows makes all the difference.
