More pictures from the Society Summer Wedding of the Year at Belvoir Castle in Leicestershire, the Ancestral Home of the Dukes of Rutland.
Lady Violet Manners, 31, married Viscount William Garnock, 34, on 21st June 2025, in a stunning ceremony held at her family home, Belvoir Castle, planned by Peter Laird and the Belvoir team. The Manners family history includes 36 successive generations of dukes and duchesses. The title of Earl of Lindsay has been part of the Scottish peerage since 1633, but the family’s aristocratic roots stretch back to the Norman Conquest in 1066.
Violet is the eldest of the 11th Duke of Rutland’s five children. One third of what Tatler magazine dubbed as the “most glamorous set of sisters” – their party-girl reputations once earned them the light-hearted nickname “the bad-manners sisters.”
Lady Violet recently launched HeritageXplore, a digital platform facilitating access to Britain’s independently run stately homes and historic houses. Lord Garnock, who graduated from the University of Alabama in 2014, recently left behind a job in the American drinks industry to return to his family seat, the Jacobean Lahill House in Fife. He is founder of the luxury non-alcoholic botanical spirit brand Feragaia stockists include Harrods and Fenwicks.
The bride wore a custom Phillipa Lepley ivory gown, embroidered with celestial and floral details of moons, stars, jasmine, and violets, inspired by her great-grandmother, the Duchess of Argyll. Her veil featured the Manners family crest and she wore the historic Rutland family tiara dating back to the 1880s. The bridesmaids the younger Manners sisters Eliza and Alice, alongside Devisha Kumari Singh, wore violet in a nod to the bride’s name.
After exchanging vows at Bottesford village church, where locals gathered to watch, the couple rode to the castle in a family carriage.
A cocktail hour in the rose garden followed, with champagne and oysters, leading into a grand black-tie dinner in the ballroom.
Violet later changed into a vintage Jane Bourvis dress adorned with pearls from Jaipur, while William swapped his kilt for a tuxedo.
Several films have been filmed at Belvoir Castle including The Da Vinci Code (2006) The Young Victoria (2009), Victoria and Abdul (2017) and Netflix’s The Crown.
With a history spanning nearly 1000 years, the castle was given the French name Belvoir – meaning beautiful view – now pronounced ‘beaver’. It remains as one of the most magnificent and beautiful Regency houses in England.

With its opulent regency decor, and stunning 18th century hand-painted Chinese wallpaper, The King’s Room was one of my favourites during my recent tour of Belvoir Castle. The wallpaper in this suite of rooms, plus a deep dive into the Castle’s archives, was the inspiration behind one de Gournay’s most recent projects, de Gournay x Belvoir, which now adorns one of the Castle’s State Bedrooms. @belvoircastle @degournay #belvoir #belvoircastle #leicestershire #grantham #castle #countryhome #countryhouse #englishcountryhouse #englishcountryhousestyle #sibylcolefaxandjohnfowler #colefaxandfowler #degournay #chinoiserie #handpaintedwallpaper #chinesewallpaper #18thcentury #interior #interiors #decor #decoration #interiordecor #interiordecorating #interiordecoration #interiordecorator #regency #regencyera #daybed #antique #antiquefurniture #flowers (at Belvoir Castle) https://www.instagram.com/p/CosPL1aoEEM/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
