This movie was better than I thought it would be. Sure, it's a no-budget WW2 movie about breaking a D-Day planner out of a POW camp, which is very far outside of my usual comfort zone, but I actually liked it.

Christos actually has 2nd billing in this, but he's only really in the last 20 minutes and two brief scenes earlier on. However, he does make the most of his time on-screen and he's the strongest actor in the film.

A little trivia: This is actually his 3rd project with director Ben Mole, after the 2013 short film The Company and the 2014 documentary Battle of Kings: Bannockburn.

Ben Mole talks about ‘Behind the Line: Escape to Dunkirk’, which was filmed back to back with ‘We Go In At Dawn’. Ben in particular goes into a lot of detail about screenplays and how he got into directing. He started with commercials and then he got into documentaries, but always wanted to do (fiction) movies. ‘We Go In At Dawn’ and  ‘Behind the Line: Escape to Dunkirk’ are his first feature length feature films and both were released in 2020. The show’s mostly about ‘Behind the Line’, but ‘We Go In At Dawn’ is mentioned too.

Ben himself is deserving of a deep-dive at this point. He’s fascinating to listen to. 

Even if you’ve no intention of watching his movies, it’s a very interesting listen if you like filmmaking in general, especially micro-budget indie movies.

Look what's on tv! It's the 'other' film that Ben Mole directed back to back with We Go In At Dawn. This also proved to me that something actually came up when I searched his name on Sky.

FTR I didn't buy this. I can get it cheaper than that on DVD.
