I'm gonna put my thoughts up on this subject because I just saw a tweet from Roger Craig Smith from twitter.
Not having Roger Craig Smith voice sonic in the sonic movie is going to be hard to get used too. Roger himself is even upset he did not get considered for the part of a character he has been playing for 10 years and people are worried he's going to get replaced.
I doubt that will happen because movie sonic is completely different to game sonic, as he acts younger. Ben Swartz voice is perfect for movie sonic but would not work with the games, especially if they follow the route idw is taking now.
Roger has that serious tone, more mature since modern sonic is considered older as he has so much responsibility around his stories and plot points. Also it's not Rogers fault if he gets a bad script! It's his job at the end of the day.
Though if it comes to it that because of the success of the movie that Roger does get replaced, it will be hard to see him go and a struggle to get used to Ben Swartz as sonic full time outside the movie verse.
