« Pour la qualité à la fois du scénario de cette fresque de profil qui nous amène de la bicyclette à la fusée et qui caricature avec une fantaisie et une drôlerie l’absurdité d’un monde qui consomme toujours plus d’énergie pour ses déplacements comme pour ses loisirs. Cette créativité qui n’est pas sans rappeler la Linea du dessinateur Osvaldo Cavandoli ou le monde onirique d’un Georges Méliès nous promène à la fois dans un monde irréel et bien réel pour dénoncer les affres de la surconsommation. »

After watching the Bendito Machine I was intrigued at the humorous commentary on people, the ideas of worship, then competition, then advancement, to catastrophe. I found that the studio which produced the film, Zumbakamera, had also produced 3 sequels. Each containing a commentary about humanity. (I particularly found the 4th reference to Fantastic Planet amusing.) Jossie Malis the animator and creator of this films has lived in both New York, Florida, and Barcelona, but is now based in Mallorca, where he is continually producing new animations. Unfortunately it seems any more information about him or his Silhouette animations is hard to come by.
