He wore his work boots and his old fisherman’s hat to keep him warm. Over top, he wore the black pea coat you had gifted him last winter when his old one began wearing out.

It was still snowing when you walked outside, not as thick and heavy as it had last night, but light sprinkles that stuck to the snow already on the ground. The sun was out, the weather warmer than expected, making it a perfect winter day for a walk.

Benny held your gloved hand in an attempt to keep his own warm, his other hand was buried deep in his pockets. “I should’ve brought gloves,” he laughed.

The bridge that crossed the lake was capped in snow, building up on the sides and seemingly falling down into the water below. You leaned over the rail, holding tightly to the cool wood, as you watched the water move peacefully. It wasn’t frozen, but it wasn’t rushing down the hill like it did in summer.

Benny stood behind you, his arms wrapped around your waist as you both looked over now. “Pretty, ain’t it?”

You nodded, twisting to face him. “If you say just like you, I’m gonna smack ya.”

“Ain’t that kinda help.” You look up again, and he looks almost scared. “I never mean to leave ya.” he swears. “But something happened to me, and I can’t get away from it. I shouldn’t even be here…”

“What happened?”

He licked his lips then motioned to the door behind him. “Follow me.”

“Did you-” Benny is standing over a mangled body, and he just nods. “Jesus christ, Benny!”

“Shhh.” he shoots you a glare before looking around.

“What the fuck do you expect me to do?”

“Need help getting rid of it.”

You turn, running your hand down your face. “Should of just jumped back in the sack with you.” you curse yourself as you turn away and take a few steps. “So, what? You left me to become a killer?” you glance back and him and see the wince.

“No.. Something happened. Remember that guy went nuts down at the diner? Biting people, ripping into them and shit?”

“That was you?!”

“No!” he snapped, offended you’d even consider it. “I was there, remember?”

“I thought you were, but when I got there, you were outside and you were fine.”

He nodded. “I lied. Guy bit right into me, tore a chunk outta me, then ripped into his own arm and-”

“I saw you, Benny. You were fine, not a scratch.”

“I healed up quick.” Benny nodded. “I’m gonna show you something.” He took a step over the body and closer to you. “But I need you to know I’d never hurt you. Never. No matter how starved I am, I’d never hurt you.”

“You’re scaring me.”

“Just-” His hand came out, palm out, and then it started to fall as his eyes closed. When he opened them again, his mouth opened as well, at first, it was just an odd smile, then it got pained as he ground out a yell between his clenched teeth.

“Holy shit…” jagged and pointed teeth began to descend and cover his pearly whites. You took a step back away from him again, while he stalked a step closer, his hand reaching out for you, palm up. “What- what happened to you, Benny?”

“I’m a monster.” it was hard to understand him with those teeth. “Please, help me.”

You glanced to the body behind him, some unknown guy you’d never seen before. Dried blood on his neck and forearm, his head twisted the wrong way around. You swallowed hard, before giving Benny a nod. “No one will notice an extra body on ice for a day or two.. And.. I can..” you tried to think. “Shit..”

“I’m sorry, Sugar.” You hadn’t noticed he’d come closer until his arms slid around you and he pulled you close. “This is why I left. I didn’t want you to see me like this.”

“How will we get it back without being seen?”

“You leave that to me.”

“Benny?” you called out as you pulled open a fridge and slid a body out.

“Yes, Darlin?” You jumped when he seemed to just appear behind you and he grinned.

“You got any leftovers in the fridge?”

“Yeah, why, we got one?”

“Mhm.” you hummed. “Family will be here any minute to do the paperwork, you mind?”

“Not at all, sugar. Least I can do.”

You watched as Benny disappeared into a back room, and came out with a nice suit jacket and put it on. “Good?”

“It’ll do.” He smiled at you before heading out to the front.

After the first body, an arrangement was made. Benny helped around the funeral home with the business side of things, and you let him stay in the back room whenever he needed it. But Benny never left, and as much as you told yourself it was an arrangement of survival for him, truth was, you didn’t care. You had fallen for Benny long before he changed. And as scared as you had been at first, you had no problem disposing of bodies to keep him around.

“And as you can see, my wife here is already prepping your late husband's body.” Benny’s voice pulled you from your thoughts. “Hope you don’t mind, Sugar. The lady insisted on bringing the items in herself.” he motioned to the clothes she clutched in her hands.

“He- he wanted to go in this suit.” she was so transfixed with the body, she barely looked up at you.

“It’s fine, Benny, thank you.” You moved around to the wife, and gently took the suit from her hands. “I’m so sorry for your loss. I’ll take very good care of him.” She nodded, but didn’t move to leave, instead reaching out a hand to stroke his cold cheek. “If you like, I’ll bring him up early tomorrow. Give you a few moments alone before the service, and you can have another after, before we-”

“Thank you. That’s really kind, thank you.” She swiped at the tears on her cheeks before turning to leave, and Benny gave you a soft smile before he left the room with her, shutting the heavy door behind him.

With the room now empty, you took a deep breath and started doing what you’ve done more times than you could count over the years. Pulling on a pair of latex gloves, you opened one of the fridge doors and were met with pleading green eyes. “P-P-please..”

Ignoring him, you pull out a piece of machinery from behind a curtain in the corner while he struggles against the restraints. Moving it next to the open door, you get to work, his pleading falling on deaf ears as you work. It’s not until you see the blood starting to flow into the bag that you smile softly and finally looked down at him. “Don’t worry. You won’t be here for much longer.”

You go back to work on preparing the woman’s late husband's body for a viewing. The room is filled with your soft hum, and a drifters screams for help that will never come.

A/N: Thank you so much for your compliments, I’m so glad you like my writing!! I took your request into consideration, so no angels… but you didn’t specify anything else and you did say you love teasing your friends about your love for the paranormal and spooky, which is how I came up with the drabble. Hope you enjoy :):)

You jumped on Benny’s back and bit into his shoulder with the fake fangs you’d bought.

He chuckled lightly, trying to turn to look at you as he circled on the spot. But you clung to him like a monkey, giggling as he struggled to get you off. Eventually he managed to reach back and pull you away before he turned to face you.

Eyes sparkling up at him, you smiled widely, fake fangs still in place.

Rolling his eyes, you raised a brow at you. “Really?”

“What? You don’t like them?”

He didn’t respond, just continued to watch you, trying to hide his amusement.

Sighing, you pulled the teeth out and tossed them onto the counter of the kitchen- which is were you were both standing.

After Dean and Sam introduced you to their vampir friend you’d been lost in love with him. You’d always believed that there were nice monsters out there, because if people can be bad then monsters must be able to be good, too. Benny was proof that you’d been right.

His accent and piercing eyes didn’t hurt either.

“Come on. I need to wear something this weekend. It’s Halloween, remember?” you noted, meeting his gaze again.

“I thought we weren’t doin’ that this year. You remember what happened last time.”

Yeah… you cut yourself while carving a pumpkin, and due to having a lack of blood during that time Benny had almost, almost, hurt you. Since then he’d been over protective and extremely apologetic. He never really forgave himself, even though you had.

Pouting, you reached up to wrap your arms around his shoulders, letting your fingers run through his hair as you pushed yourself against him. “Please. I promise, no carving. I won’t touch a single sharp object.”

Reaching up, he brushed your hair out of your face as he caved. “All right.”

“Yay!” You leaned in more, pressing your lips to his in a kiss.

He turned the two of you and pressed you against the kitchen counter, deepening the kiss as his hands tugged on your vampire costume. Soon enough the outfit would be laying on the floor, crinkled and forgotten as Benny rid you of any thoughts other than that moment.

Maybe Halloween would be a success next year.
